The Adult-Gero Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) DNP Program faculty provides program instruction incorporating innovative teaching methodologies, cutting-edge technologies, and other industry trends reflecting advancements in the discipline. This is a 12-month Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor, non-tenure track position. Academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The academic role is within the School of Nursing in the Oxley College of Health and Natural Sciences. This individual will report directly to the Director of the AGACNP Program with indirect reporting to the Executive Director of the School of Nursing and the Dean of the Oxley College of Health and Natural Sciences.

Key Responsibilities:

The AGACNP DNP Program faculty division of responsibilities: 70% to teaching, counseling, and evaluating students, including advising on doctoral-level scholarly activities; 20% to clinical competency; 5% to faculty scholarly activities; and 5% to service. This faculty will teach an average of 8 credit hours per semester or 24 credit hours per calendar year.

Teaching, Counseling, and Evaluating Students Responsibilities:

* Develop and deliver course content in alignment with the AGACNP Program curriculum, institutional learning outcomes, and accreditation standards.* Collaborative planning and implementing simulation training in the simulation center and skills lab.* Development, implementation, and management of realistic clinical simulation scenarios using high-fidelity clinical simulations that aligning with learning outcomes.* Lead debriefing sessions, fostering reflective learning and feedback among students.* Assists with student clinical rotations, including maintaining of practicum records, identifying, and coordinating the procurement of preceptors, and conducts ongoing assessments and evaluations related to clinical rotations.* Acts as a liaison with the clinical affiliate health system and facility, as well as members of the medical staff, in matters relating to student learners credentialing, schedule, and performance of practicum* Maintain regular office hours to counsel students on academic and career issues.* Facilitate student learning through innovative teaching methods and use of educational technology.* Monitors, guides, counsels, and advises students in their progression through the program.

Advising on Doctoral Projects:

* Support students in the development, execution, and completion of their doctoral projects.* Participate as project chair of no more than three projects per year.* Promote students' dissemination of projects through written and oral presentations at national, state, and university levels.

Clinical Competency:

* Engage in clinical practice to maintain expertise and contribute to the program's clinical standards.* Serve as a role model for students by demonstrating excellence in clinical practice.

Faculty Scholarship:

* Participate in professional organizations and conferences.* Engage in personal scholarly activities, including research, presentations, and publications.

Service:

* Participates in the annual admission and evaluation processes for the AGACNP program.* Serve on the Graduate Nursing Program Council* Serve on University, College, and School of Nursing committees as elected or appointed.

Reporting Responsibilities:

This position resides within the Oxley College of Health and Natural Sciences in the School of Nursing. This Individual reports directly to the AGACNP Program Director with indirect reporting to the Executive Director of the School of Nursing.

Required Qualifications

The AGACNP Program Full-time Faculty must possess the following qualifications:

* Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.* Graduate of an accredited program of Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.* Doctoral degree in nursing, Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, or related discipline from an institution of higher education that was accredited by an agency officially recognized by the US Secretary of Education to accredit institutions at the time the degree was conferred.* At least two years' clinical experience as a practicing AGACNP.* Current certification or recertification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN).* Unencumbered current license to practice as a registered professional nurse and APRN in Oklahoma compliant with state law.* Graduate preparation in the basic and clinical sciences relevant to acute care advanced practice.* Current knowledge of acute care advanced practice and professional issues* Clinical competence as demonstrated by involvement in one or more of the following:* Current clinical practice* Research in clinical area* Education in the clinical area* Utilization of evidence-based practice in instruction, in consultation with clinical experts as appropriate* Participation in a continuous professional development program

* Formal instruction in curriculum, evaluation, and instruction.* Record of research, scholarship, or achievement appropriate for the position.* Effective interpersonal and leadership skills* Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, healthcare professionals, patients, and other members of the healthcare team.* Commitment to excellence in teaching/learning in a graduate-level program, consistent with the mission, vision, and goals.* Enthusiasm for contributing to the university community.

Preferred Qualifications

* Current knowledge of institutional and programmatic accreditation requirements for Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner educational programs.* Two years of experience in didactic teaching activities* Two years of clinical teaching experience* Experience in higher education, including accreditation and program review/assessment* Active participation in professional associations
