Position Description

Educators for Quality Alternatives

EQA serves students who have dropped out of or been expelled from school or who have struggled academically or behaviorally in traditional settings. There are three high school campuses, The NET: Central City which opened in 2011 and The NET: Gentilly which opened in 2017, and a third high school campus, NET: East / NOAH which opened this year. Students at the high schools earn a high school diploma and participate in internships and career training in various fields including construction, medical, and digital media. EQA also serves middle school students through The Bridge Middle School, a therapeutic program for students during their expulsion term. For all settings, our goal is that our students leave school with the skills, confidence and experience necessary to succeed in the career and education path of their choice.

Position Summary

Over 80% of students at EQA schools enter reading and doing math below grade level. Thus one of the school's most important missions is to help students improve their literacy skills. While all teachers support this goal, the Academic Interventionist is a leader of this work.

The Interventionist is responsible for:Building genuine and transformational relationships with every studentDesigning and selecting effect, research-based curricula which support adolescent literacy and math developmentTeaching Tier 2, Tier 3, and/or Special Education Interventions in both reading and mathOrganizing and maintaining 504 plansProviding small group pull outs, individual tutoring, test prep, Act 833 portfolio development etc.Collaborating with team to insure all students receive the appropriate supports, accommodations, and modificationsInsure all students complete initial and progress monitoring literacy and math testingConstantly developing your craft

Position Requirements:BA or BS requiredDemonstrated record of effectively improving adolescent literacy and skillsKnowledge of and experience with a variety of literacy and math curriculaExperience with and commitment to working restoratively with students with emotional and behavior strugglesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsFlexible, open to change, quick-learning, self-directed, and able to manage in a highly dynamic and fast paced environmentLearning mindset dedicated to effectively and innovatively problem solving and constantly improvingComfortable with excel, databases and online communicationPassion for improving educational opportunities for urban students and for being a part of a strong, mission-driven teamsCommitment to EQA's mission, vision and growth

DetailsStart Date: ASAPSchedule: School is year-round with generous leave schedule.Location: Some in person and virtual workSalary: 45K - 55K, depending upon experience. Initial salary is set based on years of experience and degrees. Future salary increases and bonuses are based on performance and responsibilities.Benefits: Comprehensive benefits and generous 403b retirement planReports to: Principal
