Job Description:
The endoscope technician will prepare and maintain the medical facilities, instruments, equipment and sterile environments necessary for gastroenterology procedures. When not performing endoscopy duties the Endoscope Reprocessing Technician will assist with Sterile Processing Technician Surgical Support Aide (EVS II) duties in the Perioperative setting.
Posting Specifics
* Pay Range: $17.72/hour + depending on experience* Benefits Eligible: Yes (Health, Vision, & Dental Insurance, 401(K), education assistance, + many more)* Shift Details: Full-time, 40 hours/week. Shift hours are typically from 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. The position requires on-call hours as well.* Department: Gastrointestinal Lab, St. James Hospital (Butte, Montana)
The endoscope technician will prepare and maintain the medical facilities, instruments, equipment and sterile environments necessary for gastroenterology procedures. When not performing endoscopy duties the Endoscope Reprocessing Technician will assist with Sterile Processing Technician Surgical Support Aide (EVS II) duties in the Perioperative setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Establishes priorities in organizing endoscopic care based on case type and needs of the patient and health care team.* Cleans and high level disinfects (HLD) endoscopy equipment when procedures are completed.* Orders and maintains supplies for endoscopy department.* Performs eye wash testing, regularly scheduled quality control tests and maintains quality control log for equipment. In both the endoscopy and sterile processing department* Demonstrates operational knowledge of equipment and instrumentation.* Able to teach others the necessary processes for HLD of endoscopes. Responsible for reprocessing of endoscopes after endoscopy cases and reprocessing of all endoscopes every 7 days to maintain high quality of endoscope cleaning.* Completes competencies for Endoscope Reprocessing Technician.* Completes competencies for Sterile Processing Technician* During endoscopy downtime assists with Sterile Processing Technician duties in the Perioperative area.* Partakes in Sterile Processing Technician Perioperative call rotation.* Able to follow HLD guidelines with complete accuracy and detail to assure patient safety of reprocessed endoscopes.* Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of the patient.* Follows "Patients' Rights Policy" at all times.* Is a team player with Perioperative group and is flexible and accepting of duties assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
* BLS required within 30 days of hire.* CER, Certified Endoscope Reprocessor 1 year of hire* CRCST, Certified Registered Central Service Technician 2 year of hire
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Preferred Qualifications
* Minimum 2 years current C.N.A. experience
Physical Requirements:
* Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.* Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.* Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.* Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
