Description
The Standardized Patient reports directly to the Director of Clinical Simulation and the Innovative Learning Center/Standardized Patient Coordinator. The purpose of the Standardized Patient is to simulate (portray realistic characteristics of an actual patient) in a controlled educational environment for medical students (learners). Standardized patient encounters provide a safe environment where learners can practice clinical skills, patient interaction, and clinical problem solving.
Duties and Responsibilities

* Consistently simulate a case scenario in an accurate, reliable, and professional manner* Maintain confidentiality of information related to cases, student behaviors, and feedback evaluations* Provide constructive feedback (written and/or electronic and verbal) to medical students and colleagues* Work in a professional manner when interacting with learners, faculty, supervisors, and peers* Be comfortable having repeated physical examination maneuvers performed on self* Be willing to wear a hospital gown with only undergarments underneath, while on camera and/or observed live through an observation window or video monitor* Simulate all aspects of scenarios, including history of current problem, affect/behavior, and physical findings in a standardized, accurate, and reliable manner* Accurately and consistently complete checklists (written and/or electronic)* Accept ongoing feedback from facilitators and incorporate into case simulation* Be willing to be audio and videotaped during simulations* Perform all other duties as assigned

Physical Demands
* Must have the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time* Must have vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone* Must be comfortable and willing to allow learners to perform a head to toe physical examination with possible manipulation of torso, head, and limbs based on the encounter

* Must have a high school diploma* Must have computer skills to include: Word, Excel, and Outlook* Must be highly dependable and punctual* Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal* Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions* Must be able to demonstrate flexibility and reliability with scheduling and assignments
Preferred Qualifications
* Acting experience is a plus
