General Information
This is responsible technical work involving the protection of life through the performance of emergency medical and rescue services.

Minimum Qualification RequirementsGraduation from a standard senior high school, or the successful completion of the General Educational Development (GED) test, and completion of emergency medical technician paramedic coursework; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.
Physical RequirementsAbility to exert physical effort in light to strenuous work, which may involve some standing, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of objects and materials, crawling, stooping, squatting, digging, or bending.
Special RequirementsMust possess a valid license as a credentialed Paramedic in the state of residence and must be eligible for reciprocity from the State of Alabama Division of Emergency Medical Services, if not licensed by this agency. Must possess current Board Certification from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. Must possess a valid driver's license from state of residence. Must obtain certification as a Firefighter in the State of Alabama within one year of employment. Must pass a Candidate Physical Agility Test (CPAT) within 12 months prior to Firefighter training and pass the NFPA 1582 physical examination prior to employment.Description
