About the RoleOld Republic Title is seeking an Application Security Engineer based in Tampa, FL or Minnetonka, MN to strengthen our application security program. As a key individual contributor on a largely independent team, you’ll work directly with development teams to drive secure development practices and enhance the security of our applications. If you’re passionate about application security, excited to work with a forward-thinking team, and committed to continuous improvement, we’d love to connect.
This is a hybrid position that will require in-office attendance at either our Minnetonka or Tampa office 2 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Vulnerability Coordination: Act as a primary contact to manage, communicate, and prioritize application vulnerabilities in close collaboration with development teams.Risk-Driven Security Solutions: Participate in threat modeling exercises, helping teams develop secure solutions that focus on impactful risk mitigation.Internal Penetration Testing: Conduct tests to identify and address vulnerabilities and logic flaws in applications.Ongoing Security Testing: Enhance software security through regular code review, security testing, and process automation.Manage SAST and DAST Tools: Oversee static and dynamic application security testing tools, validating and triaging findings.Secure Coding Guidance: Assist development teams in leveraging Open Source solutions and secure coding practices.Champion Security Awareness: Help coordinate our Application Security Champions Program to promote security-first thinking.Continuous Learning: Stay current on new application security trends and best practices to reinforce our security posture.
Qualifications and Expertise
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.Experience: 3-7 years in application security or a software development role with a security focus. A background in development is beneficial.Subject Matter Expertise: Familiarity with both traditional and agile development, application security frameworks (such as OWASP), and secure development methodologies.
Technical Skills
Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and where security integrates.Proficiency with application security tools and development frameworks.Expertise in authentication, authorization, applied cryptography, vulnerability remediation, and security best practices.Skilled in communication, light project management, and cross-functional collaboration.
Communication and Collaboration
Exceptional communication skills, with a focus on active listening and clear articulation in written, verbal, and virtual formats.A collaborative mindset with a passion for building positive relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders at all levels.Ability to adapt and thrive in fast-paced environments, with the initiative to work independently as part of an autonomous team.
