We are seeking a skilled Materials Manager to join our team and lead our materials management and logistics operations to the next level. Position Summary: The Materials Manager will oversee the planning, procurement, inventory control, and distribution of materials to ensure our production process runs smoothly and efficiently. This role is critical to maintaining adequate stock levels, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost-effective purchasing while ensuring materials quality and timely delivery. The ideal candidate will have a background in supply chain management, inventory control, and a demonstrated track record of improving materials management processes. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement effective materials management strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure optimal inventory levels and minimize waste. Coordinate with production, engineering, and purchasing departments to forecast demand and plan for materials requirements. Oversee and manage inventory control systems, including tracking stock levels, evaluating inventory turnover, and reducing excess inventory. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, high-quality materials, and timely deliveries. Conduct regular audits of inventory to ensure accuracy and compliance with company standards. Manage and mentor a team of materials coordinators and warehouse staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork. Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of the materials management function and identify areas for improvement. Collaborate with finance to create and manage the materials budget, including cost-saving initiatives and expense forecasting. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all materials handling and storage practices. Qualifications: 5 years of experience in purchasing, inventory and/or production. 5 years of experience in materials management, supply chain, or inventory control, preferably within a manufacturing or production environment. Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems and inventory management software. Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills for effective supplier relationship management. Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, with experience in setting goals, managing performance, and fostering a collaborative environment. Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data to make informed decisions. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
