Leesona serves the global textile market with a particular emphasis on the technical textile industry. To meet the demands of the technical textile industry, Leesona designs and manufactures winding equipment that effectively handles almost any synthetic fiber.
The Role:
As Leesona enters a new chapter of growth, we see strong market opportunities across the globe. We are aggressively developing new products to entrench in our core markets, as well as lead the company into future expansion in adjacent and new applications. The Director of Sales and Marketing is a highly consequential role, which will take on a leadership responsibility in steering the growth trajectory of the company. This will be accomplished by collaborating closely with all stakeholders: from our current and potential customers to suppliers and partners, to every member of the Leesona team here in North Carolina. Given the highly integrated nature this role has within the larger team, we envision this role as on-site.
Here at Leesona we are a team with an entrepreneurial structure, where all members look after multiple functions. Similarly, this role leads from the position of taking overall responsibility as a business leader, going well beyond sales alone. The successful Director of Sales and Marketing will have the mindset of a Global business manager, as well as have a technical acumen and curiosity to learn our technology in detail. Possessing a depth of technical knowledge allows for building credibility with customers in a highly technical application; directing customers to the right fit for their application, and answering their operational questions is key to building lasting relationships.
For this role Leesona is seeking a high-caliber technical commercial leader. This role has the opportunity, with coaching provided, to advance on a relatively short track into our VP of Sales and Marketing role.
This leader will drive the overall product strategy and execution of the Sales, Marketing, Aftermarket and Technical Service areas of the business; and will be responsible for financial performance in collaboration with other functions across the business (Operations, Engineering, Finance, Purchasing, Human Resources).
Key Responsibilities:
Work to Redevelop our North American Presence – building fresh relationships with our customers in this region.
Own Customer Relationships – making on-site visits, and building trust.
Provide our customers with technical direction, pointing to the best solution for their needs.
Manage the company’s overall marketing efforts (Including US/Int’l Tradeshows).
Push new product developments with the Engineering team.
Seek market opportunities in adjacent markets.
Identify opportunities to reach new market segments.
Build strategic relationships and partner with key industry players, agencies, and vendors.
Design and implement comprehensive marketing strategies to create awareness of the company’s business activities.
Build out Commercial Operations and Sales Forecasting Disciplines for Leesona.
Work very closely with our Asian Sales Rep to capitalize on opportunity in that market.

Familiarity with all commercial processes (bid document review, contract negotiation, delivery/payment terms, Letters of Credit, and international shipping).
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in: Business, Engineering, Textiles, or similar fields can all be applicable. MBA is preferred.
Prior Sales Leadership Experience within machinery and/or a technical application.
Five (5-10) + years of related experience.
Five (5) or more years of management experience preferred.
Successful track record of developing and commercializing new products.
Ability to travel up to 50%.
