About You

You are a skilled registered geologist or professional engineer with extensive sediment site characterization, investigation, and remediation experience. You also have similar experience at upland sites. You are a strategic thinker who thrives on the challenges of complex, interdisciplinary environment matters. You have extensive experience in the delineation of COCs and contaminant transport in sediments, conceptual site model development and refinement, data evaluation including groundwater tidal influence studies, contaminant fate and transport in groundwater and sediment, leading multidisciplinary teams, and effective client and regulator communication. As a lifelong learner, you want to keep growing intellectually and professionally. Collaborating with colleagues with diverse expertise is exciting for you, and you are also comfortable working independently. You effectively manage large projects, oversee and delegate technical tasks, produce high quality written deliverables, and exceed internal and external client expectations. About the Job

We are currently seeking a consultant or senior consultant-level registered geologist or professional engineer for our Investigation and Remediation business area in our Portland, Oregon office. The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented, well-organized experienced individual who can provide technical and strategic leadership on large projects in multiple state and federal jurisdictions. The candidate will have rich and varied experience in Oregon and Washington, a deep understanding of the investigation and remediation of sediment, soil, and groundwater, have a demonstrated high degree of technical competence, be able to lead multidisciplinary teams on complex projects, and effectively communicate with clients, counsel, teaming partners, and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will take direction from clients and senior leadership and ensure that tasks are executed on time, on budget, and accurately by multidisciplinary project teams. This position may offer in-office, hybrid, or remote opportunities based on the candidate's location and the needs of the organization.

Responsibilities

As a consultant or senior consultant-level Scientist, your job functions will include, but not be limited to:

Managing and leading multi-disciplinary teams on complex contaminated sediment sites

Developing and refining conceptual site models for complex sites

Leading/supporting remedial investigations, pre-design investigations, remedial design, and remedial action activities under federal and state lead regulatory programs

Independently managing large projects

Developing detailed cost estimates for complex projects that include multiple phases of fieldwork and reporting

Communicating technical information to varied audiences (e.g., clients, staff, regulators, teaming partners, and stakeholders)

Writing and leading the preparation of complex technical reports

Leading and mentoring staff

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. degree in hydrogeology, geology, environmental science, environmental or civil engineering, or related technical field.

The ideal candidate will have:

12+ years of professional experience in the hydrogeology/geology or civil engineering fields with an emphasis on sediment investigations and remediation, groundwater fate and transport studies.

Oregon R.G. or P.E. license or the ability to obtain licensure in Oregon within 6 months.

Thorough knowledge of State (Oregon and Washington) and Federal (CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA) regulatory framework

Experience developing and refining conceptual site models for complex sites

Extensive experience in project and client management

Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills

Excellent oral and written communication skills

A desire to grow intellectually and professionally

Demonstrated ability to successfully lead multidisciplinary teams

Up-to-date 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Training Certification

Compensation and Benefits

Annual Salary Range: $105,000 – $160,000

An employee’s total compensation package includes annual salary, company-subsidized (employee and family) medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) participation with a company-match of 1% to 4% of annual compensation, company-paid life and short- and long-term disability, paid sick leave (80 hours per year), paid vacation (18 days or 20 days; determined by title at hire), paid holidays (9 days per year), and the potential for an annual discretionary bonus based on company performance. Paid time off will be pro-rated to reflect part-time scheduled hours, if applicable.
