Our client, a consulting firm based in Honolulu, Hawaii, dedicated to providing comprehensive accounting and risk management solutions tailored to their clients' needs, is looking for a Japanese bilingual Tax Manager to join their growing team. They have a strong industry presence in Hawaii, the Mainland and Japan.

Position Overview:

As the Tax Manager, you will be responsible for managing the company’s tax function, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax regulations, and optimizing tax strategies. This role requires an individual with a strong understanding of taxation, strategic tax planning, and the ability to oversee tax filings, audits, and compliance at both the federal and state levels.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns for clients.

Oversee tax compliance related to industry regulations.

Monitor and interpret changes in tax laws and regulations, and assess their impact on the business.

Provide tax guidance for business decisions, including mergers, acquisitions, and risk management strategies for clients.

Manage and coordinate tax audits and ensure accurate documentation and reporting.

Work closely with internal financial teams to ensure proper financial reporting and tax-related entries.

Stay informed on industry trends and tax-related issues affecting captive insurance companies.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or advanced degree preferred).

Must be bilingual in English and Japanese.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax management.

Experience working for a public accounting firm.

Proficiency with software related to tax and accounting.

Strong experience in federal, state, and local tax compliance and reporting.

Familiarity with U.S. GAAP and statutory accounting principles.

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Proven ability to manage complex tax situations and audits.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.

Pay:

$70,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
