Overview AM Responsibilities Investigates, analyzes, and resolves hardware and associated software and communications problems on computer systems; performs complex hardware repairs and maintenance on a wide range of pc-based computers and peripherals. Provides hardware technical assistance and support; troubleshoots and resolves system hardware, software, and communications failures and conflicts. Evaluates existing computer systems hardware, and performs system upgrades; based on customer needs, customizes and tests computer systems, and resolves configuration conflicts and errors. Installs, integrates, and configures new computer systems and hardware for users. Researches, analyzes, and recommends appropriate computer hardware for customized computer configurations. Reviews, prioritizes, and processes problem reports; documents the progress of projects. Utilize problem tracking system reviewing application elements and procedures utilized by Information Technology staff, and communicate needed changes to the system administrator. Assures compliance with federal, state, and local laws or regulations. Effectively prepares and complies with voluntary accreditation as accepted by the healthcare organizations we serve. Work collaboratively with other IT group members to ensure optimal application functionality. Provide night and weekend on-call coverage as scheduled. May assume additional on-call responsibilities as directed by Hardware Tech Lead or Regional Service Manager. Provide project status reports on a regular basis for assigned active projects. Provide input for system infrastructure hardware and software recommendations to maintain optimal system performance, maintainability, and security. Maintains regular and consistent attendance at work. Adheres to all UnityPoint Health Personnel policies and procedures, departmental policies and Safety guidelines. Behaves in a manner consistent with all Corporate Compliance policies and procedures. Completes special projects and monthly reports as assigned. Performs other duties as requested by supervisor to facilitate the smooth and effective operations of the department. Qualifications Knowledge of a wide range of computer systems software, applications, hardware, and communications. Requires Personal Computer experience with networking experience preferred. Requires highly developed communications and negotiation skills to effectively work with all levels of management throughout the UnityPoint Health, its subsidiaries and affiliates. Knowledge of maintenance and repair of computer hardware; b) Investigating and resolving problems, and/or repairing as specified by work orders; c) Performing system upgrades, and other customized configurations; and d) Installing, integrating and configuring new systems and hardware for users. Knowledge of healthcare industry systems preferred. Must have strong telephone and typing skills. Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation requirements is mandatory. Ability to understand and deal effectively with problems and opportunities, which arise, in a complex multiprocessing environment is crucial. Understands computer system functionality, limitations, and architecture of supported applications. Ability to work as a team member, creating and maintaining effective working relationships. Ability to understand and apply guidelines, policies and procedures. Two year degree in Computer Science or Programming. Equivalent education and work experience will be accepted only if previous experience applies to specific systems.
