The Managing Attorney will lead the Managing Attorney's Office in performing tasks associated with (i) the filing and service of pleadings and other documents in Federal, State, and Local Courts and (ii) advising other Firm attorneys with respect to procedural rules required advanced technical knowledge.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Proactively advise other attorneys at the Firm on procedural questions/rules/practice requiring advanced technical knowledgeManage, supervise and train Managing Clerks; set goals for the department and assess performanceElectronic filing of documentsPerform advanced procedural/technical research on behalf of case teams, train and advise other attorneys at the Firm on sameSupervise monitoring of the Firm's docket and calendar systems, including the maintenance of due dates and calculation of such datesReview documents before service and filing for correct format, adherence to rules, signatures, required filing fees, number of copies for court/chambers, service issues, etcSupervise retrieval of dockets and court documents, as requested by other Firm attorneysLiaise with court personnel, as needed, to troubleshoot filings and miscellaneous issuesSupervise process of registering attorneys for electronic filing, and supervise/anticipate troubleshooting of account-access issuesCommunicate with various court and agency personnel to ascertain information regarding status of motions and applications; confirm conference and hearing dates online and with court personnelBuild strong working relationships with clerks in the SDNY, Second Circuit, New York Supreme Court, and beyondCoordinate with process servers nationwide for service of summonses, complaints, subpoenas, and other legal documentsSupervise procurement of certificates of good standing for newly admitted and practicing attorneysOversee and execute risk management strategies to ensure compliance with all court procedures and filingsEngage in collaborative knowledge management initiatives within the firm to enhance internal processes and proceduresAssist with drafting and revising legal documents such as stipulations, notices of appearance or withdrawal and affidavits of serviceMonitor cases in federal and state courts, as well as governmental and administrative agenciesKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Must be an attorney with at least 8 years court/procedural experiencePrevious experience as a Managing Attorney is strongly preferredStrong communication and management skillsAble to provide vision, solutions oriented approach and multi-dimensional problem solvingAdaptable and flexible in a complex, changing environmentStrong working knowledge of PACER/NextGen, CourtAlert, CPi, Bloomberg Law, Courtlink and the NYS Unified Court System,CPLR, FRCP, FRAP, local court rules and proceduresThorough understanding of electronic case filing in Federal, State and Bankruptcy CourtsThe anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $325,000 to $400,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location from which the applicant will be performing the job.EEOC:
