Position SummaryThis role supports the Americas Financial Restructuring & Insolvency (FRI) Section in developing and implementing business development initiatives aimed at building client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, winning new work and positioning and profiling the Firm as one of the pre-eminent FRI practices in the region and globally.
Although the role is based in New York, it includes a significant international dimension to ensure that business development activities and initiatives are coordinated across the White & Case America's office network..
Duties and Accountabilities
1Working with the FRI BD Consultant/Lead and partners to help drive the implementation and development of the FRI strategic initiatives, associated marketing plans and identified key projectsTaking the lead and supporting on pitch preparation and capability/marketing collateral and assist with the creation of firm-wide materials, as appropriateSupporting the practice in ensuring that all pitches/proposals to clients, new engagements and closed deals are captured. Ensuring that this information is processed and disseminated internally and externally - specifically to league table publications (Bloomberg/Thompson Reuters)Working on the legal directories process, including drafting submissions and liaising with partners and researchersWorking with the central events team to assess the value, relevance and cost/benefits of profile-raising opportunities (including sponsorship and speaking slots) across the above product areas to ensure maximum benefit is released from each such opportunityLiaising with the central marketing communications resource to deliver the marketing materials required to support the Section's marketing activitiesWorking with the PSLs to ensure that timely and tailored briefing, thought leadership and webinar/seminar/roundtable materials are prepared and delivered to clientsAssist in the integration of lawyer new joiners
QualificationsAt least five years' experience working in a professional services role at a suitable level; may consider candidates with less experience than stated provided they have demonstrable experience of responsibility for a team and can demonstrate operating at board/partnership levelGraduate with relevant and in-depth business development / communications experience in a professional services firm, preferably legal or in an international firmPrior experience and knowledge of working in a Restructuring/Banking/Finance/Transaction practice not essential but would be an advantageExcellent communication skills - written and oralAttention to detailIntelligent and commercially mindedAbility to operate successfully at all levelsPrior experience of project managing and delivering pitches and proposalsInfluencing, negotiating and coaching skillsA proactive and assertive approachFlexible, committed and enthusiasticGood systems and database skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and CRM applicationsTeam playerA proven ability to work to tight deadlines, juggle multiple projects and deliver under pressure
Location and ReportingThis is a hybrid role based in our New York office. Occasional travel may be required.This role reports to the Associate Director of Business Development - EMEA Debt Finance & FRI.
