Palo Alto office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks a patent agent (high tech) with experience. The candidate will be responsible for:Preparing draft patent applications and responses to communications from the USPTO.Assisting attorneys in delivering quality legal services to clients efficiently and cost-effectively.Discussing the scientific aspects of inventions with clients and inventors, then providing attorneys with a report on those discussions.Communicating with and acting as a liaison between inventors and the Patent and Trademark Office throughout the patent application process.Evaluating and reporting on the technological aspects of inventions and other scientific matters.Advising attorneys on technologies and investigating as needed.Drafting, organizing, analyzing, reviewing, and summarizing documents.Reviewing and analyzing client and other files.Conducting regulatory and factual research.Coordinating workflow with outside service providers.Organizing and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines efficiently.Identifying and analyzing complex patent issues and implementing solutions.Interacting professionally with clients, lawyers, and employees while safeguarding confidentiality.Providing guidance to legal support staff on specific issues.Staying abreast of technology trends and making recommendations regarding technology needs.Undertaking continuing education to maintain accreditation and stay updated on current patent prosecution issues and trends.Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.Minimum Requirements:A degree in mechanical engineering, electromechanical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or related disciplines is preferred. Must preferably be licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Candidates should be self-starters with a can-do attitude, possess excellent administrative skills, and have strong academic credentials. Knowledge of principles, procedures, and standards for drafting complex patent documentation in an area of expertise is essential, along with knowledge of current and emerging developments and trends within that area.
