Headquartered in New York City, Lambda Legal also has regional offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, and Washington, DC.Lambda Legal's Nonbinary and Transgender Rights Project has been dedicated for nearly twenty years to protecting the lives and advancing the legal rights of transgender, gender nonconforming, and nonbinary (TGNCNB) people across America.What you'll do:Legal Analysis and AdvocacyAnalyze legislative and administrative policy proposals concerning the rights of TGNCNB people; prepare testimony and comments on proposed legislation; develop model legislation; advocate with government agencies; and advise policymakers.Work closely with the Nonbinary and Transgender Rights Project Director to develop and lead policy and litigation strategies.Partner with colleagues to provide analysis, testimony, and public education regarding discriminatory policy proposals.Cultivate and strengthen advocacy and community partnerships.Provide expertise and support to national and state-based groups engaged in advocacy.Public Education and OutreachDevelop documents and publications to assist policymakers and community members.Engage in public speaking, write for various audiences, and implement education strategies.Advise and work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance public understanding and support for TGNCNB rights.Represent Lambda Legal at conferences and advise on engagement strategies.Impact LitigationTrack and assess legal theories and litigation strategy.Consult with private lawyers handling related matters.Identify and cultivate litigation opportunities.Provide amicus curiae support through brief writing and coordination.Conduct litigation in appellate courts or administrative proceedings.Engage in other duties consistent with the above as appropriate in furtherance of Lambda Legal's mission.Who you are:J.D. degreeDemonstrated legal writing and oral communication abilityExperience in policy advocacy preferredDemonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic goalsDemonstrated commitment to addressing the concerns of TGNCNB peopleThe ability to travel to fulfill dutiesAdditional Desirable QualificationsExperience in LGBTQ+ and/or HIV rights movements.Experience working with civil rights-oriented organizations.The ability to speak Spanish or other commonly encountered language other than English.Why Work at Lambda Legal?You get to do meaningful, life-changing work at a national level for LGBTQ+ people and everyone living with HIV.
