Patent Agent Biotechnology

A law firm seeks a dedicated Patent Agent or Associate with a minimum of three years of experience in patent counseling, specifically in preparation and prosecution. This position is in San Diego, CA, within a reputable Intellectual Property Department focused on Chemical, Biotechnology, and Pharmaceutical practices.Duties:Prepare and prosecute both domestic and international patent applications.Draft patent opinions, particularly in the biotechnology sector and related fields.Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis regarding patent law.Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to identify and secure intellectual property rights.Maintain detailed records of all patent-related processes and activities.Requirements:At least three years of experience in patent counseling and prosecution.Proven ability to draft effective patent applications and legal opinions.Education:PhD in Biological Sciences, including fields such as Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or a related discipline.Certifications:Current registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).Skills:Exceptional legal writing and research capabilities.Strong verbal and written communication skills.High level of analytical and problem-solving abilities.Excellent academic credentials, preferably with previous law firm experience.Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
