Your role at Clorox:
The Manager Internal Audit is a trusted risk advisor charged with helping to develop and implement the Company’s global internal audit strategy aimed at advising management in the identification and mitigation of a wide range of business, financial, technology, compliance, and operational risks while strengthening The Clorox Company’s internal controls. As a manager in internal audit, you will provide the necessary project management skills and audit expertise to promote and instill a culture of risk management and compliance which embraces industry best practices. The Manager will oversee the delivery of a risk-based internal audit plan, consisting of both assurance and risk advisory engagements, that serve to add value to the organization and in alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.
In this role, you will:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Audit Execution
Lead a portfolio of audits and related activities, including staffing, scheduling, and coordination with partners to ensure the timely completion of the plan.
Ensure that audits address areas of concern relative to the goals and performance objectives of internal customers, and consider operational, compliance, and financial risk.
Lead the overall performance of audit procedures, including identifying and defining issues, developing audit criteria, integrating data analytics into the audit, reviewing and analyzing evidence, and communicating findings with internal customers in a clear and timely manner.
Identify the root cause of specific problems and partner with internal customers to identify feasible solutions that address/mitigate risk.
Oversee, counsel, and guide staff to ensure the audit objectives are met timely. Review work papers prepared by the project team for alignment with project objectives and accuracy of conclusions.
Review audit reports and effectively communicate the results of the engagement to management.
Ensure work meets the Institute of Internal Audit applicable standards.
Serve on projects and committees to provide input to queries on internal controls and procedures.
Team Development
Directly responsible for management and development of Senior Auditors.
Develop and retain staff, including career growth, training, goal setting, and performance evaluations.
Support training programs in the department for continued education.
Continuously coach and mentor team members in evaluating internal control environments and understanding the business.
Project Management
Lead projects from planning to report issuance, which could include audit, advisory, and special projects.
Participate in the annual audit plan development, including resource budgeting and allocation for review by IA leadership.
Effectively use resources available to complete projects on time and within budget, including the use of external consultants.
Demonstrate, encourage, and recognize a continuous improvement approach in the IA function.
Continuously evaluate current IA methodology and practices to identify ways to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
Investigation Management
Lead and manage complex fraud investigations, ensuring thorough and timely resolution of cases.
Conduct detailed forensic analysis to uncover fraudulent activities and provide actionable insights.
Develop and implement fraud risk assessment frameworks to identify and mitigate potential fraud risks.
Oversee the identification and management of conflicts of interest within the organization.
Monitor and address instances of management override of controls, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures.
Prepare comprehensive investigation reports and maintain accurate documentation of all fraud-related activities.
Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to support fraud investigations.
Develop and deliver training programs to enhance fraud awareness and prevention across the organization.
Assist in the assessing effectiveness of policies and procedures related to fraud prevention and detection.
Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in fraud detection and prevention, and recommend improvements to existing processes.
Experience developing preventive monitoring tools to quickly identify and address red flags.
Other
Foster and maintain relationships with key business stakeholders to stay apprised of top risks and business changes.
What we look for:
Knowledge of internal audit principles and practices; with knowledge of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF).
Investigation management, forensics, control override, fraud detection, etc.
Consumer products industry experience preferred.
SAP or other ERP system experience preferred.
Demonstrated experience in people leadership (i.e., managing, training, coaching, and developing individuals and teams).
Well-developed oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate and coach upwards and downwards.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to evaluate and enhance internal controls.
Data analytics experience.
Prior consulting industry experience preferred.
Ability to work on cross-functional activities and form solid business relationships across functions.
Well organized with ability to prioritize and self-manage workload.
Ability to travel up to 30%.
Experience with AuditBoard preferred.
5+ years of experience (at least 3+ years expertise on investigations).
BA or BS Degree (Accounting, Finance, Business or related field).
Active Certification(s): CFE a must, CIA highly preferred (or proven experience with investigations, forensics, fraud, or similar). Others (CPA, CISA, or similar certifications) preferred.
Project management experience.
