Skutt Catholic is looking for a highly motivated, positive, and engaging paraprofessional to work with our Success Study Hall (SSH) teacher in order to help students succeed, and fulfill Skutt Catholic's mission. This person will support academic student learning by being physically present in the classroom on a consistent basis, helping students complete tasks, answering student questions, providing individualized attention to students while supporting the Success Study Hall teacher's educational directives.
This person will be dependable in order to maintain a student's regular routine, foster student learning, and build student relationships. The ability to perform the identified tasks and possess the identified knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the identified work activities is required.
Success Study Hall has three primary goals:
To provide a level of support and communication to Skutt Catholic school counselors who, combined with their other responsibilities, cannot provide daily direct academic support to those students who need this level of support.
To provide academic support to students assigned to SSH. Primarily individualized/small group support (assistance with homework, test preparation, organization, and general oversight of academic success).
To provide regular communication to parents/guardians of students assigned to SSH.
Responsibilities:
Assist teacher with determining students needs for each class period
Assist teacher with communication between SSH and School Counseling
Communicate with students and help them understand assignments, lessons, and study skills
Prepare the classroom setting to promote a healthy learning environment
Ensure classroom safety standards are met at all times
Monitor students with particular attention to successful study habits and behaviors
Engage with students to enhance learning, providing direct individual and/or small group instruction
Qualifications:
Enthusiastic and passionate about teaching and helping students
Experience in helping teachers in a classroom environment desired
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Good understanding of the educational system
Strong interpersonal and social skills
Strong Math and Science skills are preferred
Ability to adapt to a constantly changing environment
Schedule: 9 am - 3:30 pm daily when students are present. May have some non-teaching days for faculty/staff meetings as necessary.
