The Freddie Mac Legal Division’s Legal Operations Department is seeking a Senior Manager to lead and develop its Legal Technology team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to be a part of building this newly formed team from the beginning, giving you the unique ability to influence the overall design of the team by developing a strategy to lead Legal’s technology portfolio. You will also be responsible for collaborating with our enterprise IT team to define and direct Legal’s strategy for building cohesive systems, processes, and infrastructure which help Legal improve the efficiency and quality of its services. This team will support both individual departments within the Legal Division and the Division as a whole by overseeing all of our IT projects, understanding how each project fits into our strategy, and anticipating our needs and the technologies that should be used to meet them. This role will serve as the link that integrates law and technology by collaborating with cross-functional teams, comprehending the needs of our legal teams, and implementing innovative technology solutions that enhance our legal services.You will build a strong partnership with our enterprise IT team and be viewed as a trusted leader and valuable resource, bringing both Legal domain expertise and technical understanding. You will develop and maintain a long-term legal technology roadmap aligned to the Division’s strategic objectives. You will be responsible, in close coordination with the enterprise IT team, for tracking the progress and performance of the Legal IT portfolio and making recommendations on the technology direction for the Division. Manage all Division technology initiatives and the Division’s technology budget, including developing a comprehensive understanding of all the technologies deployed in our environment and how to continuously increase their integration and usage.Audit our current legal technology landscape, identifying gaps, and building a plan to mature the Division’s use of technology to advance the practice of law.Partner with enterprise IT to implement system upgrades, enhancements, and patches while preserving the functionality of Legal Division tools.Leverage experience in legal technology delivery (e.g., eDiscovery, document and knowledge management, legal workflow automation, AI with legal, CLM, eBilling & matter management, etc.) to enhance existing applications or build new ones to support the Legal Division.Help streamline legal processes and drive towards the right solution to support the Legal Division’s current and future technology needs.Advise on the integration of GenAI, machine learning, and other sophisticated technologies in a legal environment.Responsible for change management and user adoption of existing and new technologies.Work closely with attorneys and legal professionals, as well as other groups within the Legal Division, to design, identify and select technologies to support legal services.Lead legal technology projects, including reviewing/assessing potential new technology solutions, new system launches, system upgrades, and product enhancements.Build consensus among cross functional teams and influencing decision making with senior level audiences.Stay abreast of the broader field of legal technology in order to continuously improve the use of technology and keep us at pace with legal technology best practices.Responsible for the training, development and management of team members at various levels with a diverse group of backgrounds.Qualifications

10+ years’ work experience with progressive responsibility on technology teams within legal organizations, including at least 2 years managing a team in these functions.Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) with a focus in Business or Technology preferred.Strong technical skills; proficient in all Microsoft Office applications; strong familiarity with legal technology, including matter management, document management, e-billing, and document review platforms.Strong understanding of the legal technology landscape and its application in a corporate legal environment.Validated ability to manage and deliver on sophisticated technology projects.Ability to understand legal processes to ensure data, integrations, and solutions are well designed.Be customer service-focused and detail-oriented, comfortable with both technical and legal vernacular, and will have exceptional judgment.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to gather and translate business requirements into technical specifications.Ability to communicate and work directly with business leaders in enterprise IT and across the Legal Division with a high level of professionalism and emotional intelligence.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present sophisticated technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and nontechnical leaders.Attention to detail with excellent time management and multitasking/prioritization abilities; exceptional organizational skills and ability to deliver to deadlines and budgets while managing opposing priorities with minimal direction.Keys to Success in this Role
