A leading law firm is seeking a highly qualified Patent Prosecution Associate to join their Intellectual Property Practice Group. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patent drafting and prosecution, with experience in electrical engineering, computer science, or a similar field. Duties:
Draft and prosecute patent applications, focusing on electrical engineering, computer science, and software-related technologies.Provide strategic legal counsel to clients on intellectual property matters, particularly in the areas of networking, software, and wireless technologies (e.g., 3G/4G/5G).Manage client relationships and collaborate with internal legal teams to ensure the efficient handling of patent portfolios.Conduct legal research related to patent applications and IP regulations.Assist clients in navigating complex legal challenges in patent law, including design engineering for chip companies (preferred).Stay updated on current trends in patent law, specifically related to electrical engineering and software technologies.Requirements:
2-6 years of experience in patent prosecution and intellectual property law.Background in computer science, electrical engineering, or a closely related field.Experience working with technologies such as networking, software, and wireless networks (e.g., 3G/4G/5G) is preferred.Admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).Strong legal writing, analytical, and research skills.Bar admission in California is a plus but not required.Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school (for Associate applicants).Bachelor’s or advanced degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or related technical fields.Certifications:
Active admission to the USPTO (required).State Bar admission (required for Associates; Bar licensure in California is a plus).Skills:
Strong technical understanding of electrical engineering, computer science, and software technologies.Excellent communication and client management abilities.Proven ability to manage patent portfolios and patent prosecution.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
