A law firm is seeking a Patent Prosecution Patent Agent with the following responsibilities, requirements, and qualifications:Job Overview:
The Patent Prosecution Patent Agent will assess scientific literature, patents, and patent application documents across various fields, such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, and related areas. They will draft patent applications, conduct comprehensive searches, analyze inventions, and collaborate with clients on innovative technologies to procure patent protection.Duties:
Assess scientific literature, patents, and application documents in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, and related fields.Understand, critique, and provide insightful opinions on scientific data related to inventions.Conduct comprehensive searches for scientific articles, patents, and patent application documents relevant to inventions.Perform in-depth analysis comparing inventions with existing discoveries or inventions.Identify essential elements, features, or components of inventions.Compose patent applications comprising a comprehensive background, description of critical features, and distinct claims defining the invention.Draft responses to rejection of patent applications, providing detailed analysis and convincing arguments for allowance.Conduct clearance studies to clear clients’ products concerning competitor patents.Present ideas, reasoning, and conclusions concisely to colleagues and provide insightful feedback and arguments.Work with clients on innovative technologies to procure patent protection and build IP portfolios.Requirements:
Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field.Ability to present scientific concepts, analysis, reasoning, and conclusions to scientists and non-scientists.Strong prioritization skills, ability to stay organized, and attention to detail.Effective collaboration and teamwork abilities.Skills:
Proficiency in assessing scientific literature and patent documents.Strong analytical skills for invention analysis and patent drafting.Excellent communication skills for presenting ideas and providing feedback.Ability to work effectively in a team environment.Familiarity with USPTO procedures and patent prosecution processes is preferred.Education:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field.Certifications:
Certification in patent law or patent agent registration is a plus.This position is located in Boston, MA.
