The Last Mile, a San Francisco, CA-based non-profit is the first prison program in the U.S. to provide in-prison software engineering training. The People Operations Generalist plays a critical role in providing excellent support to all employees of the organization through carrying out the HR department's day-to-day functions. The People Ops Generalist is a key component to building and maintaining The Last Mile's company culture through demonstrating and upholding our core values.
This position reports to the People Operations Manager and is a remote-based role. The salary range is based on the employee's geographic location.
Responsibilities
Provide timely and courteous support to all employees, being their first point ofcontact for general inquiriesManage new employee onboarding activities for new team members including processing new hire paperwork, delivering new employee orientation, and supporting hiring managersManage offboarding activities in compliance with company policies and lawsAssist in the development and management of employee recognition programsSupport training and development initiatives using the Learning Management System (LMS) to assign, track and record learning activities.Assist in the development and management of our employee recognition programsMaintain employee data in the HR systems, ensuring employee data accuracyRecommend and create workflows/checklists to ensure consistency and compliance with processesBe a champion and role model of TLM's organizational valuesEssential Skills:
Minimum 5 years of HR experience, working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.General knowledge of HR compliance and employment lawsExperience managing one or more HR systems - BambooHR preferred.Have the ability to handle confidential material with the utmost discretion.Excellent problem-solving skills and project management experience are a must.The skillful execution of administrative activities, with a high attention to detail, organization, and process.Strong teamwork skills and a confident ability to offer suggestions and improvements to process and work collaboratively with others.Strong relationship management skills and ability to build a personal network throughout the company.Strong oral and written communication. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels within the organizations and external partners.Experience setting up and managing virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom, Webex, GoToWebinar, Google Meet.Working proficiency in Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Drive, Meet).Additional Attributes:
