General Job Description:
The Preschool Director serves as a member of the Administrative Team of Leman Academy of Excellence (LA) and shall assume responsibility for the general leadership and administration of the preschool consistent with the board approved mission, philosophy, guiding principles, policies, and annual budgetary commitments/constraints. The Preschool Director creates policies, manages staff and oversees daily operations. The Director is the lead administrator of the Preschool, working directly with staff in the instruction of the scholars and developing the curriculum to ensure the school meets any standards set by law. Other duties include teaching classes as needed, determining spending responsibilities and making admission decisions.
Qualifications/Minimum Requirements:
Minimum High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) and at least 2 years experience working a licensed early childhood facility and;Six credit hours or more in early childhood, child development, or a closely - related field from an accredited college or university; orAt least 60 actual hours of instruction, provided in conferences, seminars, lectures, or workshops in early childhood, child development, or a closely - related field, and an additional 12 hours of instruction, provided in conferences, seminars, lectures, or workshops in the area of program administration, planning, development, or management; or Minimum High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) and at least 18 months experience working a licensed early childhood facility and;At least 18 months of child care experience and:An N.A.C., C.D.A., or C.C.P. credential; orAt least 24 credit hours from an accredited college or university, including at least six credit hours in early childhood, child development, or a closely - related field;or Minimum Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood, child development, or a closely - related field and at least six months of child care experienceor Minimum Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood, child development, or a closely - related field and at least three months of child care experienceAZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card / Background and Criminal History Clearance.First Aid/CPRAt least 21 years of age.CPR/First Aid certification.Food Handlers Card.Valid Driver's License.Current TB test: TB test must be within a twelve month period of start date or a new test is required.Working knowledge and understanding of Arizona Department of Health Services/Bureau of Child Care Licensing (Arizona Administrative Code and Arizona Revised Statutes for Child Care Facilities)Ability to manage conflict resolution with an attitude of humility and service.Working Knowledge of child care regulations and safety practices.Willingness to learn and have an understanding of Classical approach to learningWillingness to learn and have an understanding of Charlotte Mason's educational philosophy and methodologyStrong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to positively impact school community with an ability to build strong relationships.Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with scholars, parents, co-workers, vendors and build relationships.Strong commitment to providing leadership in promoting health and safety, including a healthy environment.Ability to operate office equipment as required on assignment; i.e. fax machine, copier, computer, etc.Ability to lift boxes and packages of varying weights and move them to other locations.Duties and Areas of Responsibility:
Promote the educational, moral, and social development of the children.Promote and cultivate the character attributes of caring, citizenship, perseverance, respect, responsibility and trustworthiness to scholars and within the preschool community.Promote the core values of academic learning and partnering with families.Coordinate and assist with creating systematic plans for curriculum development and best practices for instruction and providing regular instructional leadership for outcomes related to the Classical model.Work with the Professional Development team to develop a comprehensive and well planned instructional program based on the classical educational model for Preschool.Provide leadership including direction and supervision to academic staff to integrate the Classical educational program with the philosophical approach to education of Charlotte Mason with curricular objectivesCoordinate and assist with the ongoing development of the preschool instructors related to the philosophy, mission and classical curricular of Leman Academy of ExcellenceDirect and implement professional growth and learning opportunities for instructors through in-services, regular staff meetings, professional improvement plans, formal and informal evaluations that lead to effective and excellent instruction.Promote and model excellent qualities in service leadership, educational leadership, symbolic leadership, and cultural leadershipMaintain effective lines of communication between the staff and administration of Leman Academy of ExcellenceFacilitate the clarification and resolution of conflicts between families and staff regularly promoting communication between staff, scholars and their facilies.Confer with parents/guardians, teachers, and administrators in order to resolve scholars' behavioral and academic problems.Implement policies in line with all Arizona Department of Health Services and other regulatory bodies requirements.Establish policies and procedures for inside and outside the classroom in conjunction with all Leman Academy School Policies, Norms and Expectations.Establish and enforce rules and procedures for responsible behavior, maintaining order among preschool classrooms.Develop and Implement preschool calendars, staff scheduling and program activities.Provide leadership and direction to ensure that a written classroom management policy is developmentally appropriate, implemented effectively, and communicated to the school community.Track, Monitor and Ensure all necessary curriculum and operational inventory and resources are available as needed.Ensure annual review and revision of Family Handbook in conjunction with Head of Schools and Central Services.Implement and oversee effective processes for the registration of incoming scholars, generation of progress reports and overall communication with families.Provide leadership, direction and supervision for children's activities and events within the school.Work Habits and Attitudes:
