Berman Hebrew Academy, a vibrant and nurturing Modern Orthodox Jewish Day School in Rockville, MD, is excited to welcome a new Assistant Preschool Director for the 2024-2025 school year. Join us in our mission to create a joyful and enriching educational environment for our young learners.Key Responsibilities:Social-Emotional Development Leadership:Provide coaching and support to Preschool faculty in integrating social-emotional principles into our preschool’s curriculum and daily routines.Assess children’s development and provide strategies to support those children with social, emotional and other developmental challenges.Reinforce programs and activities that promote emotional intelligence, resilience, empathy, and positive interactions among our students and faculty.Consult and conference with the Director, Teachers, and Parents to support child development.Assist Educational Leadership:Collaborate with the Preschool Director to develop and maintain a high-quality educational program that meets the individual needs of every child and fosters ongoing professional growth of the staff.Screen prospective children and families.Assist in administrative tasks as needed. These may include, but are not limited to, any of the following:Share in the responsibility for the daily operation of the Preschool, along with the Director and Administrative Assistant.Navigating MSDE Licensing, Credentialing, and EXCELS.Planning and participating in wider Berman school activities.Attend occasional meetings and assist with developing and leading educational programs outside of regular school hours.Qualifications:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Social Work, or a related field.At least 3 years of experience in an early childhood setting, with a strong background in social-emotional development.Experience or knowledge of early childhood education, especially one that embraces developmentally appropriate practice, and a child-centered, constructivist approach, would be a plus.Knowledge and experience in Jewish education, culture, values, and Hebrew language preferred.Excellent communication, computer, interpersonal, and leadership skills.To apply for this position, please submit your resume and cover letter to jobs@mjbha.org with the subject line “Assistant Preschool Director”.
