Our company is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced System Administrator - Level IV to join our dynamic team in the National Capital Region. As a System Administrator, you will oversee and manage our data center operations. This role involves advanced system administration, performance monitoring, security enforcement, disaster recovery planning, incident management, and leadership of a team of system administrators. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data center management, project leadership, and continuous improvement of data center operations.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the operations of data centers to ensure optimal performance and uptime.Manage and maintain data center infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking equipment, and software.Perform advanced system administration tasks, including configuration, deployment, and maintenance of complex systems and applications.Ensure systems are secure, reliable, and scalable to meet organizational needs.Continuously monitor system performance and resource utilization to identify potential issues and areas for improvement.Implement performance tuning and optimization techniques to enhance system efficiency.Enforce security policies and procedures to protect data center resources and information.Conduct regular security assessments and audits to ensure compliance with DoD and DHA standards.Develop and implement robust backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability.Regularly test and update recovery procedures to ensure effectiveness.Utilize incident management tools (e.g., MHS ServiceNow) to track, manage, and resolve incidents related to data center operations.Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues promptly to minimize downtime.Maintain detailed documentation of data center configurations, changes, and incidents.Prepare and submit comprehensive reports on data center performance, issues, and resolutions.Lead and mentor a team of system administrators, providing guidance and support on complex tasks.Collaborate effectively with other IT teams to ensure integrated support for all data center operations.Manage and oversee data center projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.Coordinate with stakeholders to define project requirements and deliverables.Stay updated with the latest data center technologies and best practices.Recommend and implement improvements to enhance the performance, security, and reliability of data center operations.IAT III or CCNA-Security, CySA+ (CySA+ is a CompTIA certification formerly listed as CSA+), GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCPEight (8) years of progressive experience demonstrating the required proficiency.Master's degree and/or equivalency.Proven expertise in system administration, including server operating systems management and troubleshooting.Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to address unique and complex challenges.Leadership Experience: Demonstrated ability to lead teams and coordinate project activities.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to stakeholders.Proficiency in requirements documentation and business process modeling.Strong data analysis skills and the ability to extract insights from data.Familiarity with industry-standard system administration tools and methodologies.Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality.Experience with portfolio acquisition and contracts management desirable.Current or past DHA support experience preferredSupport Monday - Friday work week with occasional weekend and after-hours support.Must be able to lift up to 35lbs regularlyMust be able to move about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving throughout facilities/site to site.
