The Quality Manager
is responsible for ensuring that products meet all necessary quality standards and regulatory requirements. This role involves managing quality control systems, supervising inspection processes, and driving continuous improvement to reduce defects and enhance product quality.
Job Description
Quality Assurance and Control:
Develop, implement, and maintain the plant's quality management systems (QMS) in compliance with ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001).Establish and monitor inspection and testing processes for raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.Ensure that products meet customer specifications and industry standards (e.g., ASTM, FDA, etc.).
Defect Analysis and Problem-Solving:
Investigate root causes of product defects or non-conformances using tools like root cause analysis (RCA) and the 8D problem-solving methodology.Implement corrective actions and preventive measures to minimize reoccurrences of quality issues.
Continuous Improvement:
Lead continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen to improve manufacturing processes and reduce waste.Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality, such as defect rates, scrap rates, and customer complaints.
Supplier Quality Management:
Manage supplier quality, ensuring raw materials meet required standards.Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with quality specifications.Collaborate with procurement and engineering teams to address material-related quality issues.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations, such as those related to plastics for food packaging, automotive, medical devices, etc.Keep up-to-date with relevant legislation and standards, and ensure the organization adheres to them.
Team Management and Training:
Lead and manage quality control technicians and inspectors.Provide training to employees on quality standards, processes, and procedures.Promote a culture of quality awareness throughout the organization.
Customer Interface:
Serve as the main point of contact for customer quality issues and complaints.Work with customers to resolve quality-related concerns and ensure customer satisfaction.Prepare quality reports and documentation for customers and regulatory bodies as needed.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of quality inspections, test results, and corrective actions.Prepare and present quality performance reports to senior management.Develop and update quality manuals, procedures, and work instructions.

The Successful Applicant
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.Experience:
5-7 years of experience in quality management, preferably in the plastics or manufacturing sector.Certifications:
Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), or equivalent certification is a plus.Skills:
Strong understanding of quality control systems, statistical process control (SPC), ISO standards, and problem-solving methodologies.
What's on Offer
Target compensation for the Quality Manager is $90,000 - $130,000 + 10% bonus.
