Schedule:Dates of Coverage: Jan 8, 2025- May 31, 2025Reason for Coverage: Lost physicians providing call coverageSchedule: 24/7 On Call for 7 days in a row (1 week assignment at a time). We need 2 weeks of locum coverage per month.Call Schedule: 24/7 for 1 weekCall Ratio: 24/7 x 7 days straight
Details:Practice Setting: May have some patient seen in Neurosurgery clinic as follow-ups form surgery or pre-op. However, this locum will function like a Neurosurgery Hospitalist who will cover 24/7 call for hospital and ED. Inpatient rounding will be expected. We have a Comprehensive stroke (with a stroke service that manages all strokes) and level 2 trauma center.Average Number of Surgical Cases Per Day: 1-3 per week emergentlyTrauma Level IIAnnual ER Volume: 48, 000Documentation System/EMR: EPICNumber of Operating rooms: 19Number of Neurosurgeons in Practice: 2 employedDescription of OR Staff: Highly skilled, Neurosurgery Supervisors, Surgical First Asst.Patient Age Demographic: No Peds or Adolescent. Only Adults.Procedures Required:Neurosurgery Cases ADULTNeurosurgery Cases TRAUMATumor RemovalBrain Bleed StoppageTrauma RepairStereotactic RadiosurgeryEVD, brain swelling, if vascular skills greatShunt Insertion or RevisionEndovascular Procedures Required:Ideal to have some but can work around itPeripheral Nerve Surgery Procedures Required:Carpal Tunner Release (but not necessary)Spine Surgery Procedures Required:DiskectomyLaminectomySpine Stabilization and ReconstructionSpinal FusionVertebroplasty and KyphoplastyTrauma of spine essentialOthers only if urgently needed.Neurosurgical Critical Care Procedures Required:Placement of Lumbar DrainsWe have critical care medicine to do above proceduresCSF Sampling from Shunts or External Ventricular DrainsManagement and Interpretation of ICP and CPP DataExternal Ventricular Drain ManagementWe have critical care medicine to do aboveAdditional Procedures:Stabilization of head and spine traumaBrain evacuation with brain swelling/fluidCraniotomies as needed.Estimated Credentialing Timeframe: 60-90 Days
