Responsibilities Duty 1: Serves as a senior advisor to management and executive leadership on developing and implementing strategic plans in support of achieving program objectives. Duty 2: Develops detailed plans to streamline operations; implements plans and initiatives to achieve mission and policy objectives; assesses program accomplishment and course-corrects when necessary. Duty 3: Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. Duty 4: Hears and resolves complaints from employees; finds ways to improve production and increase the quality of the work directed. Duty 5: Implements program/project management; strategic planning; workforce planning; budget formulation and justification. Duty 6: Develops priorities for effective use of resources. Consults with key managers and stakeholders to ensure that all implications are considered in effective and efficient resource use and distribution. For GS-15: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity. Specialized experience is defined as directing and managing public lands and/or resources program areas for recreational, educational, conservation and/or other public and community uses. Working with leadership, subordinates, partners, and the public to plan and implement complex resource management programs and initiatives. Developing and updating resources program policies, procedures and guidance. Planning and managing budgets for regional or large geographic areas of resources program responsibility. Experience tracking progress and results of assigned or directed projects. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
