Senior Data Engineer - Data Modeler

Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Data Engineer to join our client's team. As a Data Modeler, you will play a key role in leading the data modeling domain, planning, evaluating, and selecting the right data models for applications across the enterprise. You will interact with various technical and business resources, ensuring the development and maintenance of robust data models that support business needs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Analyze and translate business needs into long-term solution data models.
Elicit, analyze, and elaborate business and technical requirements.
Continuously monitor and improve critical data models to better support the business.
Collaborate with business services, software engineering, and business units to create business, logical, and physical data models.
Develop and enforce best practices for data modeling to ensure consistency within the system.
Evaluate implemented data systems for variances, discrepancies, and efficiency.
Create and maintain architecture documents, design documents, and data flow diagrams.
Leverage and enforce standards for data naming conventions to ensure consistency and reuse of data models.
Design and document architecture at multiple levels (conceptual, logical, physical, data flow, and sequence diagrams).
Evaluate existing data models and physical databases for variances and discrepancies.
Create and maintain data models for NoSQL databases like Cosmos DB and MongoDB.
Collaborate with Enterprise Architects in developing logical and physical data models.
Work efficiently with various stakeholders and business units to understand data for ingestion and integration into a common data model.
Provide direction to a Data Engineering team in building, developing, populating, and publishing data into an enterprise data model.
Assist end users in understanding the established data models and consuming data for their downstream applications and use.
Work with the platform team to optimize data mapping and data mastering functions.
Organize working sessions with the business operations team to understand sources of data and expected output.
Complete other tasks as required.
Experience, Education, and Skills:
10+ years of experience in Information Technology.
5+ years of experience in developing, validating, publishing, and maintaining Business, Logical & Physical data models.
3+ years of experience creating and maintaining Enterprise or Corporate Data models.
5+ years of experience designing application databases, Enterprise Data Warehouse, Data Hub, Delta Lake, Data Vault, and Data Analytics Marts.
5+ years of experience with 3NF, BPMN, data vault, dimensional modeling - star and snowflake.
5+ years of experience with data modeling tools like Erwin, ER/Studio, or Archi.
3+ years of experience with data management activities such as data quality, master data management, data governance, and metadata management.
2+ years of development or DBA experience in RDBMS systems.
5+ years of strong SQL experience.
2+ years of experience modeling Master/Reference data.
2+ years of experience with SAP ECC and Salesforce data models.
Experience with data migration, data profiling, and data mapping to target.
Experience in reverse engineering and defining data models based on profiling of legacy or existing applications.
Experience designing database environments.
Experience in developing and enforcing data modeling standards and procedures.
Experience with ITSM and Agile methodologies preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong consulting and customer relationship skills.
Proven work ethic with the utmost integrity.
Self-awareness with a desire for constant self-improvement (goal-oriented).
