Sterile Processing Technician

Job Summary:•Responsible for the proper decontamination, inspection, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments.•Operates processing equipment.•Proficient in instrument decontamination and assembly, aware of sterilization methods and their appropriate use.Key Responsibilities:•Decontaminates surgical instruments according to manufacturer's instructions or department supervisor/manager's advice.•Operates decontamination equipment.•Inspects instruments post-decontamination to ensure cleanliness, functionality, and completeness.•Assembles trays to ensure device sterility and ease of use for the end user.•Uses count sheets to accurately assemble trays.•Interfaces with department tracking system for all processing functions.•Packages or containerizes instrument sets per manufacturer's guidelines and standards.•Loads sterilizer carts to prevent puncturing or compromising packaged items, following recommended practices.•Runs daily sterilizer tests on all sterilizers.•Operates sterilizers according to manufacturer's instructions, ensuring biological monitoring for every load.•Documents all load contents, interfaces load to tracking system, confirms correct parameters, and records all pertinent information.•Unloads sterilizers ensuring items are uncompromised and stores them correctly per tracking system storage locations.•Maintains cleanliness of the department and all processing equipment.Required Qualifications:•High School Graduate or Equivalent.Preferred Qualifications:•2 years' work experience in CSPD.Certifications:•CRCST, CBSPDT, CIS preferred.
