Project Engineer - Recognized Bay Area Environmental Engineering Firm

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer or Senior Engineer for a specialized, fast-growing environmental engineering firm. This role will lead projects involving groundwater, soil, and soil vapor assessment and remediation, and a variety of geological and civil projects. The incumbent will work in a close-knit project team and could mentor a staff of up to four (4) team members.
Job Responsibilities:Prepare and write technical documents and various reports (or portions thereof), including site assessment, remediation implementation, operations and maintenance, remedial progress, and othersCheck work products for accuracyUpload site data and completed reports to State databasesAdhere to all Health and Safety programs and preparing health and Safety Plans and Job Hazard Analyses for fieldworkEvaluating the site’s geological and chemical data to develop remedial strategies and action plansRemedial system design including using AutoCAD and other drafting softwareLiaison with permitting agencies to secure permits for site work (well installation, street encroachment, tank removal, etc.)Prepare cost estimates for site assessment, remediation, and related activities and liaison with regulatory agencies and clientsTurn in receipts and sub-contractor invoices and enter billable time into a Company accounting databaseStay abreast of regulatory and technical developments affecting the Company’s clients projectsProject management responsibilities including planning and execution of projects, client relationship management, preparing budgets, and serving as the regulatory liaison and negotiatorInterview, hire, train, mentor, and lead staff in environmental consulting and related technical and regulatory areasOversee site assessment, investigation and remedial activities, soil excavations and aboveground/underground tank removalsSoil, groundwater, and soil vapor sample collection, logging, and preservation and proper containerization and disposal of investigation-derived wastesMaintaining site organization and cleanliness during field activitiesOversight of complex programs, potentially involving multiple staff and multiple subcontractorsSite meetings with regulatory agency representatives and clients to discuss and review project goals, plans, and progress
Required Experience, Skills and Education:
Maintaining site organization and cleanliness during field activities.Oversight of complex programs, potentially involving multiple staff and multiple subcontractors.Site meetings with regulatory agency representatives and clients to discuss and review project goals, plans, and progress.3 to 8 years’ experience in environmental assessment and remediation and project management.Knowledge and experience in environmental regulations relating to site assessment.Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills.Ability to work effectively within small project teams and strong mediating skills.Ability to produce quality work products on time and within assigned budgets.Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering.California Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
