An Application Engineer develops strong relationships with the industrial clients (distribution, manufacturing, etc.) in a geographical territory and provides them with exceptional material handling and automation solutions to meet their needs. The engineered solutions require an excellent understanding of material flow, information flow, and general business processes. Helps companies compete in their markets by providing the best material handling system solutions and technology. The solutions improve overall productivity of our customer's operations.

Job Functions:Focus on spending time in the field with your key "type A" customers helping them with their material handling needsDevelop strong relationships with our customers through timely, regular visitsStudy the Strategic Selling ProcessMaster product information through training and personal effortsProvide professional quotes in a timely manner. Fill out sales orders completely, both product and pricing informationMaster business technology (AutoCAD, CRM, Power Point presentations, etc.).Plan strategies for territory penetration/account managementPursue educational certifications (GA Tech Logistics, etc.)Pursue leads from our suppliers within 4 business daysMaintain customer database information current in our CRMCommunicate with other team members effectivelyCommunicate strategic information regarding suppliers, customers, and competitionFollow the Systems Checklist / Gantt critical steps for systems projectsMaintain positive cash flow on systems projects. Follow up on highlighted past due accountsComplete all administrative tasks/paperwork in timely mannerAttend weekly sales meeting and other scheduled meetings on timeNetwork with business contacts within the territory (i.e. Chamber of Commerce, service organizations, government business resources, etc.)

Travel Requirements:20% overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Bastian Solutions)

Preferred Skills and Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in an Engineering DisciplineTechnical sales experience in the industrial sector a plusMaterial Handling automation design and sales experience a plusCAD experience (AutoCAD a plus)Enjoys the Strategic Selling Process and winning ordersCreative in designing and engineering industrial automation solutionsOptimistic about pursuing opportunitiesThrives on relationship building approach for potential prospectsComfortable operating independently, autonomouslyStrong sense of customer serviceTeam player and bring others in to win a sale
