Lead Mobile Equipment Mechanic
at Stella-Jones in Tacoma is a senior-level role that directs and coordinates activities of team members and outside vendors responsible for preventative maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs on various types of Powered Industrial Equipment. The Lead Mechanic ensures employees are working in a safe and efficient manner to minimize downtime and by keeping the Mobile Fleet operational.
Schedule is Monday-Friday days. This is a 24/7 facility, so some overtime and weekend work is required as needed.

Key Duties:Manages Powered Industrial Equipment (PIE) maintenance work requests, determines priority and assigns appropriate resourceEnsures team members comply with all safety, environmental and manufacturing practicesCommunicates to production and quality assurance equipment break downs and estimated time need to complete repairsConfers with venders, management and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measure to improve operation and conditions of machine and equipmentDocuments and reports maintenance work performed and advises of future requirements in a timely mannerInstalls special functional and structural parts in devicesLubricates and cleans parts, equipment and machineryTests and adjusts equipment to meet performance specificationsInitiates purchase order for parts and machinesPerforms scheduled maintenance of fleet vehicles, i.e., brake repairs, oil changes, fluid changes, lubrications, and safety inspections as assignedPerforms external engine repairs. Internal engine knowledge preferredWorking knowledge in repair of vehicle drivelines, clutch replacements, electrical systems, and a/c systemsMust have knowledge of trailer lighting, air systems, brakes, and tiresResponsible for maintaining a clean and safe shop environmentParticipates and contributes to company safety programPerforms other related duties as assignedReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
Qualifications:Significant experience (typically 5 or more years) as a mechanic, including experience working on mobile equipment (such as forklifts, loaders, trucks, etc)
