Automation & Controls Engineer
at
Dallas, TX Plant.
The Automation & Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, programming, and maintaining automated control systems at DAP Manufacturing Plant. This role involves working with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), motor drives, and other configurable electronics to enhance system efficiency, reliability, and safety. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive improvements, manage complex control system projects, and ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
Responsibilities:Design, develop, and implement control systems for automated machinery and processes.Program and configure PLCs, particularly Allen Bradley PLCs (Micrologix, CompactLogix, and ControlLogix) using RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, and Studio 5000.Design HMIs and troubleshoot HMI-related issues.Develop and implement hardware and software test plansDevelop and maintain SCADA systems, utilizing Ignition SCADA.Create and maintain detailed documentation for control systems and processes.Conduct system testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.Integrate various automation systems and equipment to work seamlessly together.Manage control software backups, including maintaining a comprehensive repositoryMap product lifecycle and obsolescence of automation and controls-related assets.Provide troubleshooting, problem analysis, and technical support for all automation and controls-related issues.Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:Minimum of 5 years of experience in automation and control systems engineering.Bachelors / associate degree or Specialized training beyond High School.Proficiency in PLC programming and configuration, particularly with Allen Bradley equipment and Studio 5000.Proficiency with AutoCAD and Rockwell Automation hardware/software, motion controlKinetix drives, VFD’s and HMI Development.Experience with Ignition Designer SCADA systemsStrong knowledge of industrial control systems, manufacturing processes, and safety standards. Including database management and SQL, as well as knowledge of Industry 4.0 concepts.Experience with -Experience with MQTT, OPC-UA, communications
