Legal Secretary
in downtown Jacksonville, FL. This is a full-time, direct hire opportunity in a fast-growing firm.Overview:Each secretary is assigned responsibility for the production of the work of lawyers. Secretaries are also responsible to the entire firm and may be required to perform secretarial functions for any firm member. Each secretary has a responsibility to serve the clients of the firm to the best of his/her ability. In order to efficiently perform their duties, secretaries should have high typing, spelling, and grammar skills. A cooperative attitude, ability to organize, attention to detail, and the ability to inspire client confidence are important considerations for advancement. Each secretary should enhance attorney effectiveness by providing information-management support, maintaining client confidence, ensuring client/attorney confidentiality, and conserving attorney time by proofreading, researching and reviewing. Legal Assistants/Secretaries may be asked to perform the following, including, but not limited to:Transcribing, formatting, inputting, editing, scheduling, arranging travel, monitoring court appearance dates, preparing pleadings, filing pleadings and other court documents, scheduling and maintaining attorney meetings, etc.
Qualifications include:
2 + years of experience in insurance defense litigation is a plus.Must have strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a litigation team.Must possess excellent organization skills, be detail-oriented, and be able to operate well under pressure with minimal supervision.Must be highly motivated.
Experience should include:
Assisting attorney(s) in preparing for trials, hearings, and depositions; drafting legal documents such as subpoenas and pleadingsAssisting in case analysis meeting all applicable deadlinesE-filing with both State and Federal CourtsSummarizing medical and billing recordsSummarizing depositions, and managing cases from inception to completion.
Desired Skills and ExperienceMust have two years experience with Legal. Litigation is preferred.
