Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled
Legal Assistant/Paralegal
with a strong background in
commercial real estate litigation
to support a managing partner. This role involves extensive involvement in real estate closings, title work, and various litigation support duties, with a focus on organization and attention to detail throughout the closing process.
Key ResponsibilitiesDocument Preparation & Review:
Draft, prepare, and review closing documents such as mortgage deeds, notes, affidavits, escrow agreements, purchase and sale agreements, UCC financing statements, powers of attorney, and more.Entity Formation & Management:
Prepare formation documents (e.g., articles of organization, bylaws, stock certificates), file with authorities, and maintain corporate records.Title & Real Estate Documentation:
Prepare and review title documents, including title insurance commitments and policies, title reports, legal descriptions, and objection letters.Financial Calculations & Pro-rations:
Calculate adjustments and closing costs, preparing buyer's/seller's closing statements, settlement statements, and closing disclosures.Coordination & Communication:
Liaise with clients, attorneys, bank/title company reps, surveyors, and agents to coordinate all aspects of the closing process, from initial contract to post-closing paperwork.Closing Process Management:
Oversee real estate closings, organize files, prepare execution copies of documents, coordinate execution, and finalize post-closing tasks.Research & Compliance:
Conduct litigation, business name, and UCC financing statement searches, prepare summaries and abstracts, and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
Job RequirementsEducation:
Bachelor's Degree (ABA-approved paralegal certificate preferred)Experience:
5-7 years of commercial and residential real estate paralegal experience in a law firm, in-house legal department, or title company settingTechnical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, virtual file management, iManage, HotDocs, and real estate software programs (such as ATIDS, DisplaySoft, or DoubleTime)Communication & Organization:
Strong oral and written communication skills, with excellent organizational abilities to manage multiple projects with minimal supervisionResearch & Analysis:
Demonstrated research and analytical skills, along with effective interpersonal and teamwork abilities to work closely with attorneys and professional staff
