Position Summary

Under the direction of the department leadership, prepares quality biological blood components within the prescribed time following regulatory and operational standards as specified in the Standard Operating Procedures and departmental procedures.2nd Shift PositionMon-Thur 3p-11p, Sun 10a-6p

Responsibilities

Manufactures Red Blood Cells (RBCs), Fresh Frozen Plasma and Recovered Plasma

Manufactures Neonatal RBCs. Sterile docks Pedipaks to Platelet Apheresis, Neonatal RBCsPerforms leukoreduction of Whole Bloods and RBCsManufactures Cryoprecipitate, Pooled Cryoprecipitate and Cryo Reduced PlasmaLabels products to meet regulatory and inventory requirementsManufactures additional specialty products as needed by customer baseFollows procedures pertaining to the proper storage of RBCs, platelet products and frozen productsPerforms and documents equipment function checks and QC as requiredMaintains a level of productivity that allows department to achieve production goalsWorks weekend, holiday rotations and on-call, as neededOther duties, as assignedPerforms other duties as assignedComplies with all policies and standards

Qualifications

EducationHigh School Diploma requiredequivalent requiredExperienceLess than 1 year 1-6 months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience requiredKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to read, interpret, and write documents such as operating forms, operating and maintenance instructions, and other department manuals requiredAbove average attention to detail and problem-solving skills requiredAbility to apply judgment to written or oral instructions requiredAptitude for computers and data entry skills requiredAbility to manage interruptions in a fast-paced environment requiredCustomer service and communication skills requiredAble to organize work to provide productive work flow needed in component manufacturing requiredFlexibility to work independently and with a team requiredOrganized, able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks at one time requiredBe able and available to work a flexible working schedule as required based on volume and timing of blood collections requiredAbility to work independently with limited written or oral instruction requiredUnderstands military time requiredTools and TechnologyGeneral office equipment (computer, printer, fax, copy machine) requiredMicrosoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) requiredSoftware systems (Blood Establishment Computer Systems, Title21) requiredLab specific equipment, including, but not limited to: * Sealers * Centrifuge * Water bath * Scales required#LT123
