The Talking Talons Board of Directors is dividing their Executive Director position into two distinct portfolios: One Co-ED will focus on Board relations, fund development, fiscal management and Talking Talons’ Thrift Store. This position will be part-time and will be occupied by the current interim Executive Director. One Co-ED (this posted position) will primarily focus on the Program portfolio and will be full-time. The Program portfolio includes (but is not limited to): managing the Climate Leadership Project, the Youth Conservation Corps and Junior Youth Conservation Corps. The Co-ED’s will collaborate on Partner relationships and Program Development. Both Co-ED’s will participate in Board Meetings. POSITION SPECIFICS:

POSITION: Co-Executive Director POSTED DATE: March 1, 2024 APPLICATION DEADLINE: Open until filled; best consideration by April 15, 2024 REPORTS TO: Board President & Co-Executive Director (current interim ED) SALARY RANGE: $58-$68K annual DOE LOCATION: Ability to commute to office in Cedar Crest NM. Work in Greater ABQ and East Mountains CO-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A passionate interest in tackling the challenges of climate change and its impact on our children and youth. Experience working with, leading and/or educating youth (5th – 12th grade). Minimum of 4 years of professional work experience in areas such as environmental/outdoor education, youth development, conservation, or program coordination. Minimum of 2 years of experience supervising other professionals. Desire and ability to be a positive member of a passionate team of professionals. Program development and implementation experience. Ability to stay organized while managing multiple projects with attention to detail. Experience in developing and maintaining positive community partner relationships. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule with some occasional weekend hours and work outside in various weather conditions. Ability to spend up to a full day standing, hiking or leading others in the outdoors. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience developing and managing program budgets. Experience developing and facilitating curriculum or lesson plans. Experience with social and/or traditional media. Experience working with Youth Conservation Corps (YCC). Knowledge of current trends around climate change issues. Knowledge of natural and cultural history of New Mexico and local environmental issues. THE BASICS:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Valid NM State driver’s license and reliable transportation. Talking Talons Youth Leadership (TTYL) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization with a 35-year history of delivering high-quality environmental education programming in Albuquerque and the East Mountains. TTYL operates a Thrift Store in Cedar Crest, providing local jobs while raising funds to support our programs. In 2023 TTYL launched the Climate Leadership Project, a climate education and leadership program for 5th grade through high school students. TTYL believes that the most critical strategy for securing a sustainable and equitable climate future is to invest in the mentorship and training of emerging young leaders.
