COSA Southwest Conservation Corps seeks new Senior Program Director

Greetings and Happy New Year from Southwest Conservation Corps!As we transition into this new year, we are excited to transition and enter into a new chapter within our organization. Southwest Conservation Corps is seeking motivated, inspired, and talented candidates to fill our recently vacant Senior Program Director role. The Los Valles Senior Program Director will oversee day-to-day operations and advance our regional office in Salida, Colorado. We welcome and encourage all qualified applicants who strive to make a difference in the lives of youth and young adults throughout the San Luis and Upper Arkansas River Valleys to apply.Program Summary:
The Southwest Conservation Corps (SCC) is a program of the non-profit service organization, Conservation Legacy, that is built on the legacy of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) that operated from 1933 – 1942. SCC provides youth and young adults opportunities to complete conservation projects on public lands. While serving with SCC, members receive training on job skills, conflict resolution, leadership, teamwork, and environmental stewardship. Programs are developed using a step ladder approach to provide a progression of skill development based on a member’s needs. Members receive a weekly living allowance, training, and an AmeriCorps Education Award (for qualifying individuals).Position Summary:
The Los Valles Director (LVD) is the leader for SCC’s staff and operations based in Salida, CO. The Director both develops funding for and manages all Los Valles based operations through a coordinated and collaborative staff structure. The Director’s focus is to create and maintain quality, safe, highly effective operational programming for youth and young adults while developing and sustaining project partnerships with traditional public land management agencies, local municipal agencies, community partners as well as developing and sustaining other funding sources to ensure the success of the Corps’ mission. Each SCC office is rooted in the community it serves. The LVD supervises and mentors various operations staff, including, but not limited to Program Director(s), Program Managers, and Administrative Manager(s).Responsibilities:Oversee day-to-day operations of the Los Valles program.Develop and manage funding sources for program sustainability.Create and maintain quality programming for youth and young adults.Supervise and mentor operations staff.Develop and sustain partnerships with public land management agencies and community partners.Qualifications:Experience in program management and staff supervision.Strong organizational and communication skills.Passion for conservation and youth development.Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.Please see attached position description for salary, benefits, and cover letter instructions.
