Department Overview$8,000 hiring bonus for external hires new to OHSU. This position with these hours also has a 5% evening shift differential.

The Assistant Nurse Manager will work primarily with the postpartum unit. In this position you will help manage day-to-day operations such as managing physical space, working with provider/nurse relations, obtaining needed equipment, etc. In this position you will also help to support the needs of the Neonatal ICU and Labor & Delivery team on an ad-hoc basis.

The postpartum floor is a 27-bed unit that provides postpartum, antepartum and gynecological care. The Birth Center team cares for both low and high-risk populations for newborn and perinatal patients.

OHSU is a Magnet designated teaching hospital. The work on this unit supports:

Specialized gynecological surgeries.

Post neo-natal sugical patients.

Inpatient lactations services.

A large volume of high acuity patients.

Approximately 200 deliveries/month.

Long-term antepartum care.

Function/Duties of PositionThe Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) is a registered nurse (RN) who is responsible for upholding excellence in the provision of nursing care through the implementation of the Profession Practice Model. The ANM, in association with the Nurse Manager, is responsible for the managerial and leadership functions within a patient environment. The ANM functions primarily on evening and nightshift hours to provide operational oversight, consistency and continuity. The ANM partners with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure the delivery of safe, quality patient care and compliance with regulatory standards, and administrative and clinical policies and procedures. The ANM performs managerial activities, and demonstrates effective leadership behaviors including performing evaluations, employee mentoring, coaching, and performance management. The ANM implements quality and safety initiatives, engages in process improvement, ensures adherence to bargaining unit agreements and human resource management. The ANM creates and sustains a patient care environment that supports a safe, knowledgeable, compassionate, productive, and engaged staff.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 2 years relevent clinical experience with strong charge nurse experience

Neonatal Provider Certification

Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA)

Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License

BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation

Preferred Qualifications

3 or more years’ experience in maternal/newborn nursing

MSN degree

Certification in Nursing Leadership
