Job OverviewA distinguished law firm located in Oak Park, IL is seeking a dynamic and passionate Immigration Attorney to join their team. This position offers substantial growth potential, providing an opportunity to manage your caseload, interact with clients, and collaborate with a skilled team of attorneys and legal assistants. The ideal candidate will have expertise in immigration law and be committed to advocating for the rights of individuals navigating the complexities of the immigration system.DutiesProvide legal representation for both detained and non-detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.Manage and oversee a diverse caseload, ensuring timely progress and resolution of cases.Conduct client intakes, including visits to detention centers to meet with clients.Prepare and file various immigration applications, including family-based petitions and removal defenses.Review and adjust immigration applications/packets as needed.Liaise with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations regarding immigration law updates and cases.Meet with prospective clients to provide strategic immigration consultations.Develop legal strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court/USCIS testimony.Provide thorough legal analysis to determine case benefits for clients.Prepare and submit legal briefs for a wide range of immigration matters.Requirements1-4 years of experience in immigration law.Proven ability to handle a caseload and move legal cases forward efficiently.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating a high level of professionalism.Experience working on Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.Ability to collaborate and strategize with fellow attorneys and legal staff.Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred.Familiarity with case management software is a plus.EducationJuris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.SkillsStrong legal research and writing skills.Ability to provide clear legal explanations and present strategic solutions.Excellent organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks.Ability to work independently and within a team-oriented environment.High level of client service and relationship-building skills.Job LocationOak Park, ILBenefitsComprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.401(k) retirement plan with firm contribution.Paid time off and holiday leave.Complimentary parking and additional perks, such as catered lunches.Career development opportunities within a collaborative and supportive work environment.Access to ongoing professional training and growth.
