Objectives
The purpose of this posting is to compile a list of eligible
Full-Time
candidates for future EMT, Advanced EMT, and/or Paramedic positions within Delaware County. Full-Time eligible lists will remain active for 6 months before candidates will need to reapply and go through the process again to still be considered. Those who apply will receive further details about the eligibility process below.
Eligible List Process
Pre-employment testing will occur on January 6th or 7th for candidates selected to move forward in the process. Testing will be in person and offered at 9:00AM and 1:00PM on the provided days.
Candidates will need to complete a PRADCO Quick Assessment prior to testing, the link will be shared after the posting has closed on December 26th. Completion of this step will be due before Jan 1st.
Interviews & skill evaluation for this position will begin on Jan 20th, dates and scheduling information will be provided at a later date. .
45 minutes for the interview 45 minutes for the scenario-based skill evaluation
Candidates who progress past the interview and & skills assessment will be placed on an eligible list for future full-time vacancies.
Hiring Process When a vacancy occurs, candidates from the Full-Time Eligibility List will be contacted with a contingent job offer. After receiving a job offer, candidates will submit to pre-hire checks including, but not limited to:
A drug screen, background check, driving check, reference check and public record requests. A physical examination including labs, titers, TB test, audiogram, vision screen, respiratory function test, chest x-ray, resting EKG, and respiratory clearance test. A fitness evaluation utilizing the Standard Bruce Protocol where you must achieve a score of > 8 METs.
Starting Pay by Position*: (2025 wages) Full-Time EMT: $53,647.36 Full-Time Advanced EMT: $55,377.92 Full-Time Paramedic: $66,626.56 Prior experience beyond 5 years will be considered
*All positions are hourly and include built-in overtime. The rates above are reflective of 2080 regular hours and 832 overtime hours per year. Job Standards
In addition to the position specific requirements listed below, all candidates must meet and maintain qualifications for driving on county business as a continued condition of employment. All required licenses and certificates must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.
EMT High School diploma or GED plus special training and related work experience.
Must have valid Ohio driver's license and acceptable driving record, State of Ohio EMT Certification, and CPR (BLS) certifications.
Must have EPC (Emergency Pediatric Care), EVOC, and FEMA National Incident Management (100,200,700, and 800), or equivalent training/courses within your first year.
Advanced EMT High School diploma or GED plus special training and related work experience.
Must have valid Ohio driver's license and acceptable driving record, State of Ohio Advanced-EMT Certification, and CPR (BLS) certifications.

Essential Functions

Provides and administers emergency medical care to patients within the scope of their authority; Performs duties based on the department's policies and procedures and adherence to medical protocol and patient privacy rights and confidentiality; Responds immediately to emergency calls to provide appropriate medical care; Operates (drives) emergency vehicles and transports patients and crews in a safe and effective manner; Maintains the condition of EMS stations, vehicles, and equipment;
Monitors the condition of vehicles through utilization check sheets and arranges repairs; Supports emergency medical care and other programs by working with local agencies to include attending meetings, conferences, workshops, training sessions and performing a variety of public relations duties; Handles public inquiries regarding programs; Completes detailed electronic Patient Care Reports and daily paperwork; may check documentation of fellow crew members for accuracy; Stocks and maintains vehicle inventory throughout shift; Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance;
Performs typing, word processing, and related computer operations; and Other duties as assigned.
Paramedic
