AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. Global Services is uniquely equipped to accelerate customer success through their cloud adoption lifecycle, leveraging Professional Services to realize desired business outcomes, providing world-class Security solutions, sustaining and scaling workloads through Support and Amazon Managed Services (AMS), and cultivating a skilled workforce through industry-leading Training & Certification programs.
The Global Services Strategy & Operations (GSSO) team was formed in late Q4’22, responsible for leading critical functions that support our businesses and help accelerate growth. Our team’s mission is to drive integration across Global Services to unlock operational efficiencies and deliver a seamless, unified experience for both AWS customers and AWS as our customer. As the Manager of Market Insights for the Global Services Strategy & Operations (GSSO) team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping data-driven strategies that drive measurable business impact. This role involves proactively collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to define, execute, and manage complex research projects, as well as responding to ad-hoc research needs and providing real-time market insights to support critical decision-making. By championing a deeply customer-centric approach, you will guide the organization's growth trajectory with actionable, impactful insights.
You will regularly present your research findings and strategic recommendations to senior executive leadership. Success depends on your ability to navigate ambiguity, synthesize complex data, and deliver clear, compelling insights that inspire trust across the GSSO organization. You will demonstrate exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively influence and educate cross-functional teams. Fostering collaborative relationships and providing well-reasoned recommendations will be essential."
Key job responsibilities
Strategic Research:
• Develop and execute a strategic research roadmap to deliver high-quality, actionable insights that drive measurable business outcomes for leadership and business units.
• Oversee and manage large-scale research studies from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and timely delivery.
• Respond to ad-hoc research requests by analyzing data, and create impactful reports and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
Industry Expertise and Insights:
• Develop deep understanding of AWS Global Services' strategic objectives, offerings, industry landscape, and operating model.
• Analyze external and internal data to surface insights on emerging trends, business models, practices, and performance in IT support and adjacent industries.
• Stay updated on cloud services industry developments, including partnerships, business models, and technologies.
Vendor Management:
• Manage third-party vendors, including budget approvals and allocations, to ensure efficient use and maximum ROI.
• Build relationships with industry experts and analyst firms to incorporate credible external perspectives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Partner with cross-functional teams to manage deliverables and ensure comprehensive research support.
• Establish mechanisms to effectively disseminate and socialize research findings within the organization.
• Influence alignment and foster collaboration across teams, even without direct authority.
Strategic Impact:
• Own and drive long-term, cross-functional initiatives with tangible impact on AWS customers and Global Services performance.
• Provide thoughtful executive-ready recommendations and action plans based on strategic analysis.

The AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success. AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, or a similar discipline with a strong analytical foundation.
6+ years in roles such as market intelligence analyst, industry research analyst, corporate strategy, management consultant, or similar positions demanding strategic industry/business analysis and executive-level communication.
1+ years of experience collaborating with industry analysts (e.g., IDC, Gartner) and/or market research firms to address business queries.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in business, economics, finance, or an analytical discipline.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively in a fast paced and rapidly-changing environment.
Proven track record of communicating research findings and strategic guidance to senior leadership.
Proven ability to influence alignment and foster collaboration with cross-functional teams, even without direct authority.
Ability to think strategically about complex issues, leading to thoughtful executive-ready recommendations and action plan.
Background in technology industries preferred.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $132,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $219,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
