Press OperatorAdams Publishing Group is recruiting for a Press Operator working in the beautiful mountains of East Tennessee at our Greeneville, TN regional print facility.
We are searching for a career-oriented candidate who can lead a press team within a busy production environment.
Job SummaryThis position is responsible for managing and scheduling all pressroom production activities and acting as a communication link between external customers (if necessary), print sales executives, and intercompany job planners as may be required. As a press operator you will work in the daily printing operations in the manufacturing of daily newspapers and commercial print publications in a cost-effective manner, with the highest quality standards available using existing technology. Meet customer expectations for reproduction quality, content freshness and productivity, while managing materials consumption cost-effectively. Evaluate equipment maintenance program and materials to improve Production Quality and Efficiency in a manner consistent with a plant and department wide continuous improvement process. Support and contribute to the development of a diverse work environment. Set an example by complying with policies/practices that ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and company policy regarding equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, regulatory agency safety and environmental requirements. Keep accurate, useful and timely operational and maintenance records. Work with the staff to set equipment maintenance priorities while still maintaining production requirements.

The successful candidate must be a flexible, self-starters, attentive to details, diplomatic, able to provide direction, and able to multitask. This position will work with different personality types and across a number of publications. Candidates for this position should have strong interpersonal skills and client orientation and exhibit an ability to work effectively with internal and external contacts as a team member as well as a team leader.

Minimum Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience in the pressroom printing industry.
Strong leadership, initiative, decision-making, staff development and interpersonal skills are critical. Five years of experience or equivalent experience, in cold web, offset newspaper printing production environment is preferred. Well-developed verbal and written communication skills are a must in addition to strong analytical and problem-solving skills that have been proven on the job.
Technology Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook is required and have an intense knowledge of how all printing departments function to maximize efficiency.
Extensive technical knowledge of and mechanical aptitude for offset printing techniques.
Education:
High School Diploma and equivalent work experience preferred.
