Project EngineerHydroelectric Contractor is seeking an entry level Project Engineer with a preference for a Mechanical Engineering graduate. This candidate would be expected to provide a broad range of support for all project functions. The candidate would need to be able to work with minimal direct oversight/direction after being trained in job duties and expectations. A summary of the position’s roles and responsibilities are as follows:
Project and Quality Engineering:Review drawings (comments, requirements, procedure, material)Track supplier progress (progress reporting and issues tacking/management)Prepare requests for information (RFI) and non-conformance reports (NCR) between Litostroj, subs (off/on-site refurb) and clientProduce standard documents (painting procedure, material equivalence)Produce new instruction procedures for technical activitiesMaintain a comprehensive bill of material (BOM)Optimize cost of design proposalsSupport technical aspect of the Quality documentation (Quality Working Plans (QWP), Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) Measurements, Reports, etc.)Review sub-supplier submittalsTravel to site or to suppliers’ shops for quality monitoring or technical oversight including factory acceptance tests and support of customer witness and hold points
Bidding (Sales) Technical Support:Identify engineering needs from customer’s requests for quotation (RFQ)Produce RFQ to Litostroj’s subs based on customer requirementsContact suppliers for pricing (technical review and explanation).Technical review with customer for Clarifications/DeviationsSupport proposal development efforts – technical descriptions and content of RFQs
Project Management Engineering Support:Track Purchase Orders (scope of work and technical support)Prepare “RFQ” for local and Global SourcingReview bids from subs and participate in meetingsReview technical site proceduresSupport coordination meetings with the client, engineering & suppliersComplete client transmittal with updated status based on Client’s comments.Travel on site or to suppliers’ shops for quality monitoring and work progressAssist project manager in meetings with customer (if technical assistance is required)
Qualifications:Bachelor of Science in Engineering, mechanical preferred, from an ABET accredited universityMinimum 3.0 cumulative GPAWillingness to pursue the FE and PE licensesLegally able to work in the United States for any length of timeStrong written and verbal communication skills
Location and Travel:Location to Birmingham, Alabama is preferableWillingness and ability to travel moderately (amount would be dependent on location)Travel will be to job sites, shops, and headquarters
