A prestigious law firm based in Orlando, FL, is seeking an experienced Litigation Special Counsel specializing in construction defect cases. This full-time, non-partner track role offers the opportunity to independently handle complex multi-party litigation. The role is ideal for an attorney confident in their autonomy, with the ability to lead and manage high-stakes construction defect litigation matters.Duties:
Handle multi-party litigation matters, specifically focusing on construction defect cases.Manage all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, motions, and hearings.Conduct significant courtroom and arbitration work, including trial or evidentiary hearing participation.Draft substantive dispositive motions and manage case documentation.Develop litigation strategies and ensure all proceedings are handled effectively and efficiently.Handle insurance risk transfer issues related to property damage claims.Work closely with clients, maintaining strong communication and client relationships.Requirements:
Minimum of 6 years of litigation experience, with a focus on construction defect cases.Proven ability to manage cases independently with minimal supervision.Demonstrated experience in courtroom or arbitration proceedings.Experience drafting substantive motions and conducting depositions.Familiarity with insurance risk transfer issues for property damage claims.Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.Must be an active member in good standing with the Florida Bar.Certifications:
Board Certification in Construction Law by the Florida Bar (preferred but not required).Skills:
Strong oral advocacy, research, and writing skills.Excellent organizational and time management abilities.Ability to manage complex litigation cases independently.Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.Ability to work effectively with clients and provide sound legal advice.
