Overview A substantial part of the 200-acre Viking Lakes mixed-use development, this destination is home to the Minnesota Vikings headquarters, Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center and TCO Stadium. The location is easily accessible from downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul, the Mall of America and airport, with additional uses for the planned development to include corporate offices, retail, restaurants and entertainment.
The 320-room luxury hotel features more than 35,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and pre-function space, including a 7,500-square-foot ballroom, a 4,410-square-foot event center and six two-story hospitality lounges for groups and meeting planners to utilize. From small board meetings, conferences and large galas or special events to Sunday football tailgates and more, the Omni Viking Lakes Hotel accommodates groups of all sizes with its robust meetings offerings, multiple food and beverage venues, a signature spa and state-of-the-art fitness facilities.
Job Description Responsible for ensuring proper set up and service of all banquet functions, supervising all banquet associates to ensure guest satisfaction, and maintain service standards. This is a leadership role responsible for training of associates to deliver prompt, courteous service in a manner that complies with Omni food and beverage standards and company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
Coordinates functions with service staff and Chef. Sees that guest satisfaction is achieved through effective supervision and delegation of functions, checks on food quality and courteous performance of entire banquet staff.
Establishes high standards of quality service and maintains them through effective training and continuous upgrading.
Briefs banquet staff on functions and procedure of service.
Represents hotel management at functions.
Creates all banquet staff schedules and manages payroll processes.
Determines set-ups in conjunction with hotel's catering sales team.
Responsible for maintaining equipment and pars levels to provide luxury service.
Maintains records, reports, closing reports and payroll costs.
Inspects function rooms and collaborates with other departments to request repairs and upkeep, to maintain rooms in excellent condition.
Conscious of business fluctuations, reacts either increasing or decreasing when volume of business fluctuates up or down.
Maximizes profits in his department through effective management techniques keeping in mind at all times guest satisfaction.
Must stay updated on new food and wine trends. Sets the pace and a good example for a successful quality operation.
Prepare for and conduct departmental meetings.
Use Synergy and Epitome Reports to effectively relay guest concerns to other departments.
Qualifications
4 plus years of previous Banquet experience in hotel setting; luxury experience strongly preferred
Bachelor's Degree required
Computer skills including Microsoft Office and Excel
Must be detail oriented, have excellent communication skills, and the ability to perform professionally under high levels of stress
Exceptional people skills and customer service skills
Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
ServSafe Alcohol certified
Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand and walk for an extended period of time or for an entire shift, walk, push, pull, stoop, bend and lift items of moderate weight.
Working Environment
Interior and exterior of property, depending on location of events.
Exposure to various hazardous chemicals.
Exposure to food items and beverages.
