Job Duties

The Division Manager is assigned managerial, operational and administrative responsibilities for automated and manual operational high volume and fast- pace activities for one or more court divisions. Maintains direct supervision of clerk's office. As a deputized member of the judicial system, has the authority to sign and issue routine court documents (warrants, capiases, summonses, subpoenas, etc.) that strictly comply with statutory regulations. Assists the Clerk and Judges with short and long range planning, day-to-day docket/courtroom/front counter maintenance, problem resolution, coaching and counseling. Works under the direction of the Clerk of Court from established judicial and administrative policies and procedures. Minimal direct supervision is required. In addition, handles the complex and/or sensitive problems with appropriate judgment, discretion, and tact unless referral to the Clerk is necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge and hands on experience in a court setting, specifically civil court division processes. Experience with warrants, summons, dockets, garnishments, warrant in debit, interrogatories, writs, notice of satisfactions, protective orders, DMV, document imaging. Candidates must have proficiency with computer responsibilities include, GCMS, Financial Management (FMS), Outlook, VCIN, NCIC, GDIS, DMV and IPOAD (as applicable) and able to conduct some minor computer troubleshooting.

Competitive applicants must demonstrate a proficiency in Microsoft® Office Suite, data entry. Applicants must have solid verbal and written communication skills in addition to experience with high volume customer service.

Must have applicable experience in cash handling, receipting and a high level of math acuity. Must have experience managing work teams, delegating work assignments, processing time sensitive documents. A high school degree or equivalent is required, college degree is ideal. Physical demands include the ability to frequently lift/carry up to 15 pounds, visual acuity, speech and hearing, and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment. There is extensive walking, sitting, standing for long periods, reaching, twisting, and kneeling to perform the essential functional requirements.

Additional Considerations

Knowledge and hands on experience managing court staff is preferred. The ideal candidate will have proven ability and history of staff training in court procedures, have advanced customer service experience dealing with the public, external agencies, attorney firms and other courts. Managerial candidates must have measurable hands- on experience managing a team. Applicants will be required to demonstrate verbal, written and math skills.
