Job Description:UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking an entry level OPS Help Desk Formatting Assistant to join Academic Technology, a unit within UFIT.
Employment with UFIT provides an excellent opportunity to work with other dedicated employees focused on understanding and interpreting the technological needs of the University of Florida's innovative and inspirational community.
The OPS Help Desk Formatting Assistant is responsible for the UF Computing Help Desk's Thesis and Dissertation formatting service, which works directly with graduate students to get their theses and dissertations ready for submission to the Editorial Office.
Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:
Customer Service - Knowledge of customer service; including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
Schedule appointments, maintain and update appointment calendarsConfer with customers by telephone, in person, or email to provide information about services, answer formatting inquiries, or coordinate with Editorial Office
Effective Communication - The ability to listen, understand information and ideas, and communicate information and ideas comprehensively, written and verbally
Keep records of customer interactions, recording details of inquiries, complaints, or comments, and actions taken
Problem Solving - Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to evaluate options and implement solutions for MS Word and Latex documents
Evaluate options for appropriately formatting non-standard content
Thesis & Dissertation Formatting - Knowledge of formatting guidelines required by the Graduate Editorial Office and the ability to effectively guide students working towards submission
Evaluate and edit documents for submissionEducate students on formatting guidelines and options available to themProvide detailed feedback for dissertation/thesis requirements
Interacting with Word Processors and LaTex Editors - Using computers and document editing software to aid students in formatting their dissertation or thesisAbout UF Information Technology

Expected Salary:$20.00 per hour
Minimum Requirements:Associate's degree or high school diploma and two years of experience in the field. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required
experience
