The City of Friendswood is currently accepting applications for a full-time
Laborer
in the Parks & Recreation Department. This position is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the City's parks, buildings, grounds, and structures. The scheduled work hours will primarily be Friday through Monday, 7:30am-6:00pm.
. Work Performed:
Assist in the maintenance and clean-up of park facilities and City buildings.Perform routine ground maintenance, including emptying trash cans, cleaning restrooms, and picking up litter and other debris.Performs daily inspections and cleaning of Parks' vehicle and equipment.Inspects building facilities, park facilities, and other park equipment including vehicles.Performs simple plumbing repairs, such as unclogging plumbing fixtures and repairing minor leaks.Assists in setting up the annual Fourth of July and other City sponsored events.Applies over the counter insecticides to areas as needed.Documents daily work routine and keeps record of janitorial supply inventory.Performs other duties within areas of responsibility and ability, as assigned.
Education and Experience
:
High school diploma or G.E.D., 6 months experience; valid Texas Driver's License
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Basic knowledge in the use and care of janitorial equipment; basic knowledge in the operation of a motor vehicle (with and without a trailer in tow), landscaping tools and maintenance equipment (including power tools and basic hand tools); basic knowledge of plumbing, simple carpentry and knowledge of set up and assembly.
Physical Requirements:
Primarily works outside so employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions, noise, fertilizer, and insect sprays. Physical demands are heavy and may include lifting, standing, walking, and bending.
Rate of Pay:
$16.35 - $20.68 per hour - Depending on qualifications
